Does your adsense revenue go down if you use other ad networks ?

Hi

In addition to adsense, I have recently started using other cpm ad networks like admedia, cpxi on my website. Sometimes they serve ads that appear to be coming from google.

So is google able to track that ? and does it likely have an effect on the ads displayed in the adsense units, and eventually the adsense revenue ?

My adsense revenue seems to be stuck, despite my traffic rising.

    Hi,

This is incorrect! You can display other ads as long as they use a different "script" then Adsense. Let me explain...

The Google Adsense script uses a snippet which once added will automatically scan your page and show relevant ads. Google does not allow any other snippets like this to be used. However, many other PPC networks will allow you to specific keywords before posting the snippet which is different then the Adsense code snippet. As long as you can specify keywords, relevancy with other PPC networks you can include them on the same page.

Another thing is to make sure they look different...Here is something from Google support..

Yes, you can. Infolinks doesn't look anything like AdSense ads. As far as Chitika goes, you'd probably make more money using their "mega-unit" than just straight "premium." And make sure your Chitika ads look different from your Google ads. These days, Chitika mega-units and Infolinks are giving AdSense a good run for their money (at least on my stuff). Some days, Chitika and Infolinks do better for me than AdSense, even after recently getting some advice from an AdSense Optimization Specialist. Good luck!

I can't even follow that. It makes no sense. I'd sure like to know where you read
such a thing. I'm not sure what you people are reading. And where. Is it here
      on Earth?

The only thing google ever says about running other ads, is that they cannot look
like they are coming from google, and, the ad content must not violate the content
TOS for adsense. Rather simple, really.

Lots of places run multiple ads, from other networks to amazon, and everything
      in between.

      you can, but you shouldn't.

Adsense will nearly always pay more than chitika. Therefore, you dont want people clicking on your chitika ads. You want them clicking on adsense, which means you need to go into your ads and start blocking poor performing or irrelevant ads so that your ads are more targeted to the content on the page so people will click on them.

Adding other ad networks just means that you're giving your visitors an opportunity to click on low paying ads instead of yours. Sure, you might be thinking that a low paying click is better than no clicks at all, but in reality, you're losing money from visitors that are seeing both ads and click on the chitika ad instead of the more profitable adsense ad.

in all honesty, unless you're banned from adsense or running ads on a site with prohibited or highly unprofitable niches/content, there's no real reason to use any other pay per click ad network besides adsense.

      to make it simple...

more ads does not = more revenue...stick with adsense.

AskAnAffiliate is right on that. Whoever has followed their logs carefully, knows that the Google Mediabot keeps visiting your pages when Ads are served and scanning them. Nothing can be hidden, what you might be doing on your website, while using Adsense!

I have noticed on many (also big) sites to run other advertisement in parallel, however thinking back, it is usually different.

If you want to be sure, you should contact Google Support probably. By doing so, you can avoid to be banned if you do something wrong.

So, what the frick does that have to do with anything, even if true?

Why would I want to hide something?

I don't know about you people. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Sometimes I think you people are living in some parallel universe.

It's no big deal to use other ads if done following the guidelines.

And they are so easy to follow, a 5 year old could do it.

Yes other ad networks may decrease your AdSense revenue. When you use ads from more networks, then the clicks coming from your visitors will divide, some will go through AdSense ads and some will click on other network ads.

Sometimes, ads from other networks contain words and graphics which have strong "Call to Action" appearance. In such a situation, the ratio of clicks going through your AdSense ads may drop badly.
