Most of the time, when you comment on a blog post, it will ask for three things: You Name, URL, and Email. Typically, it asks for your URL because it will turn your name on the blog into a link to the URL you shared. This gives incentive for people to comment.

So, no, I wouldn't recommend just putting your URL. Your comment will never get approved.

Post a few lines related to the article you're commenting on, it will get approved, and your name will link out to your blog.

First, write a relevant comment and make sure that you contribute something to the blog. That is, don't write something spammy like: "Nice blog, bookmarked it", etc. Then you can use one of your keywords in the "Name" field, and put your URL in the website field.

ROTFLMAO! That's exactly what google tells you NOT to do. I suspect that
when one reads your advice here, they would do themselves better by
doing the opposite. I have yet to see one reply from you that makes sense,
other than just to spam your sig.

The truth about blog commenting is this: Don't do it. Waste of time.

There are hundreds of better ways to get links and traffic.

Another cool trick you can do is if you have a post on your blog that compliments, argues or teaches an easier way to do something- use the url to that post. The blog author will appreciate it a little more. I know I like it and I generally comment on their posts and remember that blogger/commentator as well.

But be sure to leave a good comment and do not use any url in the comment field. Allow the readers to click on your name which is link to your blog naturally.

other wise you will look like a spammer.

Don't use keywords in the Name field. Your comment will probably not get accepted, and you can also get hit by Penguin. Using exact-match anchor texts and/or anchor texts filled with keywords can get you penalized. Those days are over.

Avoid posting your keywords in the name field, for the most part. It's usually going to lead to comments that aren't approved.

Stick to posts in your niche and leave comments that you'd approve on your own blog. If you're interested specifically in driving traffic look for popular blogs in your niche and try to be one of the first to comment on new posts.

Don't forget that you should NOT use your main or even your secondary keywords as an anchor text. Also, write natural and useful comments just like it's your own blog!
