Are these anchor texts overoptimized?

Hey warriors,

I've just come across an awesome domain that I want for my PBN. It has an incredible link profile, mostly natural links as far as I can tell.

The only problem is, A LOT of these links use the same anchor text (about 49%), although it's the name of the site, not a commercial keyword like "how to lose weight".

Still, do you think that it would be penalized for over optimization?

Is the backlink profile natural? Is the high number of that same anchor text due to a single sitewide link? How many backlinks does the site have? For example if it has 2 backlinks, then 50% of one anchor text isn't high it's the only possibility.

If it looks like it was touched by an SEO and links were built artificially I would ditch it. If it was caused by natural linking then I still might purchase it if everything else checked out okay.

Building links by using your brand name is not a bad SEO practice. In many cases domain name is the brand name, if that's the case then I would suggest you to buy the domain. However do give proper attention how those links were built.

Looks like that has been OVER optimized. I remember Millionaire SEO expert Alex Becker mentioning NO MORE than 30% (preferably 10%-15%) exact keyword for anchor text. I know you are not going to try and rank that (EMD) keyword, but 49% of the same anchor text does look spammy.

Hope that helps in your decision.

Brand Name isn't much of a problem. You can buy the site and later on diversify the anchors if you so wish.

You said it is for a PBN, so who cares about anchor text percentages?

Agreed, it should still hold the PR.

Plus since the anchor text is the website I don't think it's as big of a deal. Additionally, you could always get other links to the site to help bring down that percentage.

If you are using this for your PBN then go for it. Why would you worry about the anchor text ratio?

I have no idea why people think that changing anchors to look natural
actually means anything. Completely meaningless as well as clueless.

In fact, just look at the lunacy here in this thread. People talking about
some nonsense percentage, then fill their sigs up with links.

Each post is a link. Each link has the same friggin anchor...add up the
number of posts and you have the number of links here with that.

I suggest that anyone touting any such nonsense delete their sig,
especially if they are planning to stick around here and make
thousands of posts. Would not want them to get penalized...

Oh but then we toss in the real thing that google said about
so-called optimizing anchor text. They did say it about sig links.

My isn't it strange that the very people touting some anchor text
nonsense, are actually doing just the opposite of what google says
to do with sigs in forums?

Truly amazing? Not really. Just another reason why so many people
cannot figure out why they fail, or why they think google dislikes them.

Hey paulgl, great comment lol. I especially like how one poster mentioned a "millionaire" seo's suggested percentages. What a load of crock. How you think he made his money? Off of dummies lol
