URL Has Exact Keyword In It

So i'm building up my first website and I have writers creating content for me. Some of the content is great and others are average.

Here is my question?

The page URL that gets generated a lot of times is usually the title of the post.

The problem is lets say you made a post called "7 Steps To Train Your Dog" where the keyword is "train your dog", your URL will be something like 7-steps-to-train-your-dog.

What if I wanted to possibly upgrade my content in the future, the title might change and the page URL might not make sense anymore. e.g. "20 Ways To Train Your Dog"

To avoid this problem, can I make the URL just be the keyword e.g www.domain.com/train-your-dog

In this way I have flexibility to change my article and not affect any backlinks that I have earned a long the way.

Is this possible and how does search engine see this?

Off course possible. Which platform you are using? Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal or your personal self made website? Let me know first.

I wouldn't completely change the Article after you have ranked the site.

You might lose the SEO ranking once the indexed content changess.

Yahoo and Bing love Exact Match Urls.

Google on the Other hand would wrather not have hyphens for some reason. All in all it doesn't matter that much. Just don't change the content.

You can add to it, and title changes are a red flag to search engines

I have changed and am changing articles after ranking landing pages. Not just today but even last 3 years, have been doing this. I Usually rank a landing page with a low quality/spun article. Once I get traction I replace the article using a high quality one written be a pro writer. Never found any kind of problem as long as I make sure onpage optimization is done correctly. I think you didn't try anything like this before answering to OP.

Hm. Are you saying changing URLs are not any kind of problem? If so then mate you are misleading! Sorry to say but it is completely wrong info. Changing URL can completely carry off a page from it's SERP! So never change URL after ranking it and building backlinks to it.

In Wordpress if you want to customize any URL then you can do this by editing permalink of any post/page. In this case you can edit the URL to put keyword inside of it instead of the title. But always make sure once the backlinks are build to it and the page is ranked well you are not going to make any kind of change in the URL again.

Yes exactly, I got that part.

I just wanted to know if my theory was applicable.
