SEO on One-Page websites

Hi,

I know there are several tips, tricks, and guidelines that get published, but in the end I am looking for personal experience. A couple of months ago, we re-designed our site to be a one-page scroller. Everything is on one page. This seems to be quite popular nowadays.

My question is: are people finding that their SEO ranking has worsened when changing to a one-page site instead of multiple page. We used to have a lot more content and about 10 individual HTML pages.

We really have seen a drop in our SEO organic visits.

Thank you!

  • A link or two from a higher PR (4-5) site would definitely help
  • A one page website may look nicer and more professional but its riskier to get traffic to that page. That's because all your eggs are in that 1 basket.

More pages on a website definitely benefits your SEO more compared to a one-page website.

Based from my experience when I just started a new website (1-5 pages) my traffic can be close to 0 per day but when I expand my website to 20-50 pages, I can see that my traffic starts to increase.

Imagine if you would to create 200-500 page websites and each of those pages get just 1 visit each that would equal to 200-500 visitors per day.

All this is without any off page seo / link building. Just on page seo (optimized titles, h1, h2 tags, meta description, keyword density, seo optimize url, etc)

Add that on with off page SEO and you got a traffic machine.
