Is it possible to get a ripoff report off the first page?

Hello,

I have a potential customer that I contacted today. They have a ripoff report from a disgruntle former customer that has reached the first page and is hurting their business. They said if I can push it off the first page then they would be interested in talking.

The ripoff report is in the 4th organic listing. The PR for the 3 organic lists on top are 5, 5 and 4. The ripoff report has a PR of 0. Is it possible to push to report off the first page?

Has any dealt with anything like this before? If so, what did you do? This was definitely an interesting request.

Here is what my SEO tool told me

No one is going to be able to answer your question because getting on page 1 of Google depends a lot more than just Page Rank...

You need to also take a look at Domain age; Back Links to the specific page; back links to the entire domain; Title tags; etc...

I agree ... I have market samurai and here is what it told me...
The review site is number 4 on the list

    # DA PR BLP BLD BLEG DMZ YAH Title URL Desc Head CA
    1 - 2 - 5 - 184 - 212 - 0 - N - N - Y - Y - Y - N - 3
    2 - 2 - 5 - 8 - 212 - 0 - N - N - Y - Y - Y - N -
    3 - 2 - 4 - 6130 - 6150 - 0 - N - N - Y - Y - N- N - 4
    4 - 9 - 0 - 0 - 52400 - 0 - N - Y - Y - N - Y - Y - 6
    5 9 0 0 4410000 0 Y Y Y N N Y -
    6 3 4 16 14100 0 N N N N N N 14
    7 - 0 1 592000 0 N N Y N Y Y -
    8 - 0 0 3180000 0 Y N Y Y Y Y 45
    9 4 - 0 1560000 0 Y Y Y Y Y Y -
    10 - 0 0 72600 0 N Y N N N N -

For those of you who understand SEO but don't have Market Samurai here is what each category means:

DA - The age of the domain name
    PR - Page rank
BLP - Total back links pointing to that specific url
BLD - Total number of external back links pointing to any page
BLEG - Total number of .gov or .edu links pointing to the web site
DMZ - open directory projects directory
    YAH - Yahoo Directory
Title - Whether web page has the keyword in the title tag
URL - whether web page url has the keyword
Desc - whether the keyword is in the meta description tag
Head - whether the keyword appears in the h1, h2, h3 tags in the content
CA - Number of days since Google last indexed the page

I', open to any suggestions dealing with similar issues...

    regards

Ripoff Report has serious clout. Good luck.

Sounds like that client needs to get some lawyers.

Sounds like a fantastic business model pitching those companies if you can figure out a way (legal) to have it drop off the first page.

lol ... It would be good! You could just find companies that ripoff report is effecting and charge them to get the review off the first page.

I guess that's what I'm doing if I can figure this out. For the record this is not my business model. A client requested that I sort this issue out for them.

      cheers

If I were the man, I would resolve the complaint. Problem solved easy enough. When people read the report, they would see it was resolved. Who knows, maybe they even close or delist solved ripoff reports.

I can see it now. "Don't give away any more crap reports - create rip off reports!"

Which 'guru' will step up to the plate on this one?

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!

Art, long time no see. That's a good one. I really hope someone doesn't start that kind business though. That's just wrong in all degrees.

What would you do, get 6 new pages to rank on the first page of the search so that the ripoff report drops to 11th place?

I think a more realistic approach is to take care of the complaint and get this published in the report so that someone who reads it sees that it's not a rip off.
