Why some proxies have non-consistent location?

Hello. I have bought proxies and am trying to understand why they are identified as being in CA on some websites and US on another websites. Rank Tracker software identifies those as being in CA but other websites identifying location show it's located in US.

I asked support and they told me that such is the case and in reality proxy belongs to US. The question is how Google and other SE's identify those types of proxies.

I have another example where I asked for UK proxy but it is also non consistent. Do you know why this is?

Thanks

Unless you are on a property owned by Google (Gmail, YouTube, Google+, etc.), they don't identify the proxy or where it is from. They have no way of knowing that you are using a proxy.

Mike, I didn't actually meant to ask whether Google know it's proxy or not. What I wanted to know is what country does Google and other SEs see the requests are coming from when I use their search. CA or US, UK or FR?

It matters because I use those proxies for rank tracking and want keen results.

        Got it.

There really is no way to be 100% sure. I've seen plenty of times where different location checkers show different results. Probably the best thing you can do is use a few for each location and compare the results. If one of them is way different than the others, it is probably not from the same location then.
