Hi Guys,

How to know our website content is weak where Google is penalised to weak content, Moreover, I know duplicate content and can find duplicate content by the help of different on line tools, but how to find or know content is weak.
#search engine optimization #content #weak
  • Your readers, Readers are the best way to know that your content is weak or not. If your site get consistent readers and attract reader to engage with your site than your site has some good content.

    • Bounce Rate is a good metric too!

If your visitors aren't going deep into your site because what you have on offer is the bomb then you're doing it wrong!

    • I agree.

You will know that you have a weak content if it doesn't show any webpage visits of course. If it's something that won't arouse the interest of others then it is useless to post them. Better check the content yourself and review if it is something that interests you.
  • Post a link to the site, the responses on this thread will tell you...

  • Weak content has the characteristics of:

    1. Duplicate content on your site.
    2. Plagiarism
    3. Content with lots of grammatical errors.

Very well said. I agree that finding duplicate contents on a website is by far the most annoying thing that a reader could ever run into. In the same way, plagiarism may take you a few steps ahead but not far and not for long. It will be discovered one way or another and believe you me, it can get very embarrassing when it gets found out. In terms of contents with a lot of grammatical errors, I would also stop reading from a website with a lot of it to begin with because I can tell right away that the rest will be just as bad so there will be no point of going on.
  • Bounce rate is tricky because a good affiliate site will have a high bounce rate.

Poor content is more so about time on page, backlinks and traffic. In the short run, your rankings and traffic are pretty random but if you don't see changes in at least 2-3 months, then you have a major content problem.

    My 3 step solution is:

    1. Refocus on 1 core problem
    2. Target a specific type of person
    3. Write content to that specific person

So if you have a dog training site, then only write about how to train your poodle for a few days. Imagine you are writing content to only Poodle owners. This will help you focus and find a target market. Once you get a market, then ask them what they want to read about.
  • You should ask someone who understands your target market, or is one of your potential readers. Try to find people who are verbally good enough, can judge the substance, and don't have any need to suck up to you. That's why forums like this may be a good place to find help.

Very often the tone, scope and structure are the major problems. Author or copywriter is writing whatever comes to mind instead of what the reader might like to know. The article is just a pile of superficial notes, and not really an end-result of a thought process. There are no good ideas or angles that make it worthwhile. The writer doesn't sound like an authority that you should trust.

And often you can add piss-poor grammar to the tally, too.

    • There is no such things as good content cmon guys... If your visitors stay in your site then you got good content if they leave you got bad content. That's it, that's all..

  • Bad content is basically content that doesn't do its job. It's a sales copy that doesn't convert. It's that blog post that nobody wants to read. Simple as that.

  • Take a honest look at your content.

You KNOW when your content is weak.

    - Is it well written?
    - Does it help anyone with a question?
    - Does it bring new information?
    - Is it well structured?
    ..etc
  • Some factors which will determine the strength of your content is whether or not your articles actually provide answers to questions your site visitors would have and also how in depth those articles are, such as length and scope of article. To make your article more authoritative, you could cover multiple facets of a topic, rather than only providing introductory type information. Or, combine several related articles into one so the reader gets more answers on one page, rather than having to visit multiple pages. This type of article would resemble a Wikipedia article or tutorial.

  • If you suspect your content is weak, it probably is.

When I write something, I ask myself whether the content is good enough to charge money for. Magazine quality. If it's not, I don't publish it. Better to publish one great article a month than one lousy article a day.

Check out this post on Bob Bly's blog, it sums up the difference between good and bad writing...

    • One high quality article is really all you need, but some writers take the easy way out and publish mini articles on their site thinking it will do the same. And, then want to know why there were no good results.

  • 1. 50% duplicate content
    2. keyword stuffing
    3. Not Relevant keyword with content
    4. Not the contextual text or alt link.
    5. short content in the article

    • You're still thinking of content in terms of what search engines want, not what the reader wants or needs. When you write for the reader, you would never keyword stuff or use in context links within your article as they are not natural. Just stick with writing for the human being who will be reading the page and search engine traffic will eventually follow.
  • If you suspect your articles is poor, it likely is. After I work on just a bit of, I inquire for myself if the submissions are sufficiently good to fault cash for. Newspaper worth. When not, I do not print it. Best issue in one big content per month than the usual bad content each day.
  • There are tools that help you categorise the quality level of content to primary, medium and high. You can compare the quality of your content with other similar competitive sites.

  • Don't use general wording, content or article must be informaative, visitor's point of view. Content must be interesting and in simple language. Article must be 450+ words... etc
  • You can use smallseotools.com for check weather your content is unique or not. Copyscape is a also useful to check content plagiarism.
    I agree with Stephaniejason20 answer.
  • Review the content which isn't driving organic search traffic and determine which of those pages have generated organic search traffic over the past 90 days, with the help of Google analytics tools or any other tools.
  • If you have made your contents with your own, then you will know your content is weak or not. Try to write your contents with your own for making it unique and fresh. After updating of google algorithms, it is must to use healthy contents copy or paste from elsewhere. If a google thinks your contents are spammy then google will notify you.

Be your own judge - except of course bounce rates and user replies. Compare your content with the best sites in your niche. Doesn't matter if your site ranks number one or not - your content should always look like it belongs to the best site in the niche.
  • There are too much tools are available for checking Plagiarism and grammes.
Try to write content in neat and simple .
    Never copy others .
Optimise image also that are uploaded in post.
  • If your website's bounce rate is high then it shows that your content is not as much informative as the visitor's of your website needs or your content is not good enough to attract those visitors to come again on your website. So.. check your bounce rate and you'll know your content is good enough or not/

    • Or you gave them all they needed on the 1st page they landed. Or you convinced them right away to click on your affiliate link and leave your site.

  • Do one thing. Ask any of your friend to read and understand your written content in just 20 seconds. After that ask your friend to explain what he has understood. You will get your answer.

Moral of the story is - Users only take a glance and if they find anything grabbing attention, they will stay, otherwise you loose them.
  • Try hiring a proof reader to check your content before it goes out into your blog.
  • As vishwa said your reader is the key take their Opinion about your site through a poll or something that pops up when they leaving your website!
