How does popular searches type WordPress plugin work?

I have often seen websites having keywords on the bottom next to Popular Searches. I understand this is made in purpose so pages can be found in Google's SERPs and they are probably automatically generated.

What I want to know is where plugin pulls those from?

  • From search terms used to find that post. This was popular around 2-years ago when it was understood that the dynamically changing keywords at the bottom would improve post freshness daily - thus contributing to ranking.

    Right now, in mid 2014, I'd say this plugin is useless and will be considered spam. Don't use it if you plan on building a long-term site.
