I was developing a new site recently, which i was able to get it Page Rank 1. I was on PR1 for over three until two days ago i realized i wasnt ranked anymore.

This is how it all started, i had about 38 links when i use yahoo explorer to check my backlink and i was given Page rank 1. I built my list steadily up to 197 and i was still on PR 1, until one day i used article submission and got my link to 423 within two days. 10 days later i lost my PR1.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Google.

I went from a PR5 on to a PR4 on a couple sites and from PR4 to PR3 on other sites this last update they had.

Oh well... such is life... PR isn't anything to worry about.

197 to 423 links in two days?

I think that this could have been the cause of your problems (looks a little spammy to Google).

Now I feel the same pain like you,I have a site which has one keyword in google position 3 some days before, now is 15,another keyword once is 7,now is 353.I built about 180 backlinks in this days, maybe this is the reason for google turned me down, now what I can do is continue to build 10-20 backlinks per day,and hope my position can get back again.

Just a little someting to add for the OP. PR1 is something different as Being on position #1 in SERPS.

very different. You should prioritize more on SERP rather than on how to increase your PR..Because the more your site will be on top page the more you'll get traffic and those visitors will possibly convert to traders/clients

That may be the reason, Google does NOT like FAST & MASSIVE links within short time, IF you can get 25-30 per day, that would be more than ehough...
As well as try to get more niche related links, that will be more helpful to get PR from google.....

PageRank is really just a function of how much juice you are passing on to sites you link to. So unless you are selling one way links it just don't make much difference...

Don't worry about pagerank as it gets updates every few months and you qute often see page rank 0 sites beating high page rank sites.
