Hello guys,

I have a blog that is getting decent traffic and I am making some money with this blog with affiliate marketing. Since the blog is a free wordpress blog then I don't have the option of using adsense. So mu plan is to transfer my free blog to a paid blog with a proper domain name and monetizing options.
The transfer should not affect Search Engine rankings by using the offsite redirect option but I don't want to take any chances. So does anyone have any personal experience with this and did this transfer affect rankings?

Not done it personally but in the dashboard you've got access to the regular Wordpress export.

    This page gives more information.

And there's a good chance someone in Warriors for Hire or Freelancer or maybe even Fiverr can help you for a fee.

To clarify... if you are transferring from free to paid, then it is WordPress.com to WordPress.org, not the other way around as you mentioned.

Despite what they tell you, you will lose somewhat of a link juice. Not a lot to matter but yeah there's a loss.

For example, if your TF/CF is 19/31 then after the move, the new domain will have somewhere between 17/29 or somewhere around that. If you're okay with that then go ahead.

I can't tell about google SERPs, some of my rankings stayed consistent after the move and other went down a position or two so its really variable but yeah its not totally safe.

PS: Also note that by using your own domain name instead of the wordpress subdomain, you will lose the authority of wordpress.org domain. So if its working out great, i don't recommend moving. Instead, wordpress lets you remove the ads for a fee and put your own so you should use that.
