Older site ranking worse than sites new to business, what am I doing wrong?

I've had this site since early 2008, with this domain name since 2009. For many terms it ranks well(macbook repair, macbook repair new york, macbook logic board repair, etc), but for certain terms(iphone repair new york, ipad repair new york) it ranks terribly.

This confuses me since the site caters to both, adn they are both in the same industry. Some of the sites that have popped up look good, but LOTS of the sites that surpass our rankings have only been around for a year or two, and are quickly thrown together looking bunk.

I've tried some white hat SEO in the past from reputable firm but the ranking stayed the same or went down.

Here's what I've done and accomplished so far:

a) Write complete content on all the pages.

b) Regularly update the blog, twitter, facebook, youtube page.

c) Post content on other webforums to help people solve their own problems, with link in signature on site

d) 1000 youtube subscribers & 400,000+ views without buying any of them on fiverr

e) Linked youtube how-to videos to services on the website using annotations

f) Regularly post ads on local sites like olx, classifiedads, backpage, and kijiji linking back to the service being advertised.

I'm not looking to cheat, just to get off of page three for a service I've had online for years before other sites even went into business. I'm open to any type of feedback; it's hard to offend me, so keep it truthful! :-)

You need to check and make sure your page isn't over optimized for any keyword. You should only use your primary keyword just once.

Now you need to get backlinks from sites that are clean (no spam links have mostly branded links ie the website name) you don't want to get backlinks from a site that looks like it's SEOd. The sites you get backlinks from should have high Trust Flow per majestic SEO, if the Cita flow is higher than the Trust Flow you better run.

Do not spam you website if you get spam links backlinks you're taking a chance you might lose the site.

Your did not move up from the back link service because they did not get you the right back link. If they did your site would shoot up the ranking.

    Hope that helps

The most simple response is to increase the authoritative back links to your site, especially to those pages specifically targeting those key terms.

If you have a separate category dedicated to the section (iphone repair new york, ipad repair new york) on a sub-category then this will be ideal.

You would want to get some strong links with the anchor text to those pages. A few is sufficient.

Anchor text link building still works, have a look here
But it must be executed correctly and carefully

Once? Are you crazy? Where did you pull this statistic from? Your ass?

Amazon has a marketing team of over 100 employees. It's safe to say their site is "SEO'd". They also have thousands of "spam" links due to affiliate marketers. Would you turn down a link from Amazon?

Yes, always trust third-party metrics that are trying to guess Google's algorithms.

Yet another ridiculous statement. They might have not delivered the desired results, but sites "shooting" up the rankings is ridiculous. I'm sure you'll help my site to "shoot" up the rankings while targeting "Plasma TV's".

I suggest you stop churning out regurgitated nonsense and dribble that has been repeated 1,000 times. You clearly lack common sense as you seem to believe there's a "magic" factor involved in Google. You're the type of person who would say, "YOU MUST NOT TAKE YOUR ANCHORED LINK TEXT OVER 15%!!!!1111"

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

Go to majesticseo or ahref or opensiteexplorer and see what the rating is for the page in question you attempting to rank. Compare it to the competitors. Also look at the link profile for the competitors page

My points was made because everything he said is common sense. The dude's asking for genuine advice, and as usual, the WF fleet dish out common sense, "go and build more links", "don't spam!!".

There's two ways about it OP. You either:

          a) go grey-hat / black-hat. Buy links and go at it that way. Nik0 offers a decent PBN service. It's cheap and delivers results. Chances are, it's enough to get you to #1 fairly easily for your keywords.

          b) go white-hat and spend hours of time trying to acquire one link. By white-hat, I mean you're going to let others link to you naturally. If you haven't stepped into the marketing game yet, this one will be hard. In essence, you're creating resources, infographics, videos, news stories (whatever) to get other people to cover it because they want to - hopefully resulting in a link. An idea, for example, is donating $10K to a charity. Newspaper / media outlets may pick it up and link to you if done right. For most, white-hat isn't feasible as time=money.

was your site penalized? check any message on your Google webmaster tool. also did the drop coincide with any google algo update - check with Algoroo.com.

next step, study your new competitors. what they did right in the current state of google algo. unforunately, sometimes good quality aged sites get unfairly penalized. I experienced it more than once. Go to ahrefs, enter their URL and study their backlink sources and anchor texts. try to get links from the same sources.

your current approach of creating content is good. keep at it. but focus your energy on discovery and engagement. for a start, study how to optimize Google +. distribute worthy content to reddit and stumbleupon.
