The death of adsense?

Ok, this question might be a bit outdated but I couldn't find any threads that cover this...

I read a report a while ago, called "the death of adsense" which mentioned that ever since google changed the cost per click on their content network in november 2005, they took away any incentive to use adsense and that you are just sending your hard earned traffic off to your competitors for nickels and dimes.

Is there a way to find out how much a click is worth in an adsense ad?

For the people that are using adsense, do you find that your adsense revenue is worth sending your traffic somewhere else?

    • wow, my first post and right away I get slammed for wasting valuable space ..., guess I will think twice before asking for advice again.

I did do a search for "adsense content network" but there were no results. I apologize if the post was inapropriate.

no offense taken, I will check out the adsense discussion forum, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

  • there's a market for both textlinks and other PPC programmes. Adsense will always be around in some version but advertising revenues are continuing to increase online so i think I'll stick with adsense for a little longer yet.
  • I think "The death of Adsense" was nothing more than a marketing gimmick. I believe Adsense will be around for a long time to come as it is still the fastest and most reliable way to make money online with a minimum of effort. Adsense is probably my favorite way to make money online.

    • allon,

Welcome to the forum! You'll learn to grow a thick skin here, but there's an absolute wealth of great info.

FWIW, about one quarter of my income comes from Adsense. As you learn some of the 'basics', you'll pick up on how to determine profitable niches, tools you can use to approximate click value, etc.

My 'steady' Adsense sites are mostly static sites with appx. 30 pages of original content. I continually create additional content just to submit to article directories, plus do some other pretty standard traffic-building i.e. social bookmarking.

Once I figured out how to optimize my sites, ad placement, etc., I have appx. 20% click-through, and they earn about $5/day, or $150/month.

On the other hand, my "best" Adsense site has as of today a 72% CTR. Very little traffic, but nearly 3 out of 4 visitors click on an ad, and the ads pay between $1 and $6 per click.

Stick around, ask questions, add when you can.
