Is alexa ranking improvement a good sign?

Hello,

I Do not have a high end SEO background. SO I hired someone for promoting bizwyse.com. It is new website. and last month when we launched the website,The Alexa rank was over 160 million. Now its reached under in 2 millions.

I do not seen any link building there. I want to know is it a good work or does he doing any spam. Is it okay to use this guy for promoting my website? If anyone can Judge the quality, please share the thoughts here.

    Nope. Alexa rank mostly means that your visitors are using Alexa's toolbar, which has got to be one of the least reliable ways of tracking internet usage.

    OP, if your guy is using the increase in Alexa rank to justify his cost - well, I'm not sure if he's worth anything.

    Added: took a peek at your backlink profile with Majestic SEO. Mostly typical low-value blog and forum links, but perhaps Majestic is just slow? I would not want my banner on site like marketforums dot net.

    Yes sams_dxny, it is good sign if there is improvement in Alexa, but in starting, weak links also put positive impact on alexa. Alexa is only traffic stats for your page. Once you reach under 10 lakh of global alexa, then your marketing effort works for further improvement.

    Alexa ranking is a rough estimated data of your site traffic. It will not provide you the SEO report of your site.

    Well, tell you what Alexa has nothing to do with the SEO, but yes tell you what Alexa can be manipulated. But I'll say if you are getting traffic over your website using the legitimate way and your Alexa is decreasing then its.... okay ! But yes, I'll again say don't consider Alexa factor over the SEO as I don't think this has to do anything with the SEO.
