John, I just had to reply to this terrific and detailed thread about Adsense strategies that work. I've been using similar strategies for a few years now, but haven't properly focused on things that are obviously working for me. Oddly, it is as if I really didn't care about making money.

As you say, focusing on specific keywords related to real world products is what works. These people who make or sell that product want to buy you're real estate. And, you end up ranking really well for that specific product when you've created an entire niche site about just that single product, rather than a category of similar products.

The size of the site is not as important as its tight focus and relevancy for a particular set of keywords or even one particular keyword. When that keyword is in fact the name of a product, or at least the specific narrrow niche the product is in, then your chances of dominating that tiny little niche are excellent.

The fact is that most people are simply not willing to build an entire website about just one single product. Too boring. Too much work for too little money, they think.

But, they are wrong!

If you had all the ad-money spent on PPC ads for Tiny Tim's Banjos... or whatever specific product... you'd be rich!

Of course you can't get ALL THE MONEY, but you CAN get maybe 5% of it. And that's a lot, for almost any product you can imagine.

How many sites are completely, entirely, 100% devoted to Maui Jim Sunglasses' and also merely the "Big Kahuna" models?

Wouldn't be many, for sure. So, your site could be #1 for "big kahuna maui jim sunglasses". Or maybe #3 or whatever.

It's not hard to make a few bucks a day when you're ranked #1, #2, or #3 for any particular product that is out there for sale around the world.

So, it's all about focus.

Target your product, then experiment a bit here and there with ad placement, layouts and copywriting techniques.

Great approach! Thanks for sharing your success and so many details!

Thanks for sharing this info, I have been pursuing adsense for a while,

Cant wait to see your product!

I would say go for it because you never know what can happen.

Also, PM me the keyword and I'll look at the top sites for you and see
what my gut tells me (I rarely if ever reverse look up sites and thier
backlinks, and this works well for me).

I had read this thread the last 5 Days. Nearly every post. It's exciting what you had done with just some keyword-research and good placed adsense-blocks.

Thank you for your view of IM.

Here is something worth mentioning and maybe something John can comment on. I have some sites where I put adsense during the time I build them and I notice it's harder to get them ranked, even indexing seems to take longer than usual even with 4 approved EA articles.

Now I have 3 sites where I did not put adsense yet, also no link-building activities yet since our writers did not finish the promotion articles in time. They got indexed within 24-48 hours AND have made it straight to page 1 of Google, that's without adsense and without any link building.

Can this be just a coincidence?

My question is if you did not build backlinks to the website what did you do to get it indexed? I mean how did Google find your website?

You know what, I have no idea! One was done with XSP and the other 2 with WP. The XSP went straight to #3, the 2nd one is at #8 and the last one is at #10. The domains by the way are "exactkeywordphrase.net". But then so are all my other new domains, so it can't be that.

This happens to me all of the time as well.

I think it is just from building the site, refreshing the page in the
browser, typing in site:mysite.com in Google just to see if it is
indexed, etc.

Somehow these activities also send the spiders over our way.

Could you elaborate a little more? Did you do any social bookmarking, pinging etc? How long did it take for this to happen?

Are you getting good search engine traffic for the site at #3?

I didn't do anything, just build the site (10 content pages). It took about 24-48 hours to get to page 1. Haven't looked at stats of #3 yet. Haven't really been that interested in looking at the stats since Adsense isn't up yet. But will take a look and report back later.

13% CTR - Should I be happy with that?
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

John...

I've followed your methods but made them my own a bit by mixing in some Link Wheel strategies as well as with some stuff found in Google Sniper.

Some of my domains are getting as high as 40% CTR while others are as low as 3%-13%.

Are the lower CTRs acceptable or should they just be abandoned? CPCs are less than $0.50 since I'm not targeting high-dollar keywords.

Thanks

Once you have picked some keywords is there a way to find out what kind of payout per click you will get from adsense? I would expect some will get very low payout and would not be worth the effort - thus is there a way to filter them out? Thanks

Yeah, John certainly revived my faith in Adsense. I, too, poisoned by all the talk about Adsense being dead, thought it is indeed dead.

When using the google keyword tool, make sure it is showing the cpc / cost per click column. I use 20% of the amount shown as a guide. But what I actually get paid varies widely and I don't think on average I really get the 20% amount.

Well I just want to see if I can get it to rank without paying for a whole bunch of articles like I am currently doing.

I also have a theory about this backlinking stuff that goes all the way back to when the blog and ping was so great and now it is not. I always thought that Google will give a page more trust when it find your website in a more natural then apposed to finding it using techniques that are over worked.

I am not saying you cannot get indexed with "blog and ping" but that you would be ranked lower then a more natural way because Google have caught on to the techniques and as another techniques get overused over time they become less effective.

So in other words I am testing this theory.

I hope I explain this ok.

Great post people!
I need your help, please...
I have more than 40 sites more or less the way John has described here.

But since I was a victim of the "Subprime morgages crisis" here in South Florida and went flat broke and jobless I had to do my sites on "Free co.cc domains and used 10 subdomains per co.cc domain".

The result is I am making sh*t, zip, zilch, nothing despite I am working on those sites like crazy.

Do I dump all those sites and start fresh ones over .com domains or do I move the old ones to subdomains of .com domains?

I am not capable $$$ of using single domains per site: what is the maximum # of subdomains do you consider acceptable until I can make some bucks and being able to do 1on 1's?.

Any advice, please?

Thank you

The content of your site(s) should be more important than the domain.
Domains should contain or reflect your keywords.

debtconsolidation.com>>> keyword is debt consolidation

I assume with your free domain this is not possible, but at least have the subdomain contain keyword.

Nice! I can always appreciate someone actually working on different
angles instead of just trying to copy everything someone else does.

This business especially, has a thousands ways to reach the same
end.

Well, the only way you can find out is to test it. If you can only
use subdomains then by all means try building 10 new sites all around
one domain, and use the advice given in this thread on all 10 sites.

Work hard and let us know how it goes.

Hey John,

I have read all posts in this thread in detail and I just have one question for you, I do believe its answered in this thread previously but somehow I didn't understand it I guess.
Questions:
When we will search for a niche, we should always look for high searches and low competition. Should we also look out for how many Adwords or Advertisers are bidding for that keyword of niche (I believe you said something about test it with spyfu)?

I really look forward to your answer on this, as I do not want to jump into a exact keyword domain and build a site and put Adsense Ads and later find it out that those Ads are not relevant to my site content or no advertisers are there for that keyword niche.

Please put some light on it.

Regards,
King

You might consider using blogger blogs as well... Once you earn enough to get the .com domains, then switch to that model.

I'm tired of my signature... Deleted.

Hi, I have adsense income and I am also planning to advertise on content network for affiliate marketing. Is there a software that could help me automate the process of detecting the top 10 websites with adsense for a particular keyword? I am doing this manually. Thanks.

I am fond of creating micro niche sites and they are quite doing great. Super Solano Hair Dryer and Battery Operated Alarm Clock are just a few of my sites.

Thank you for this post. You are an inspiration. I make $30 per month on adsnese but that is on one site and I have not put too much effort into it. I just finished an article marketing course and I plan on taking my business to the next level this month. I look forward to getting your adense course. Do you have an opt in list?

Sarah, 30.00 per month is not chump change where adsense is concerned. Multiply that by the number of times you can replicate your success, 10 sites = 300.00, 100 = 3,000.00. I'm sure you get the picture, but you should know you are already on the right track.

Question for everyone... When you look for a keyword-based domain and the .com/.net/.org versions are taken, what suffixes do you try? I like to try "help", "info", "news", "reviews"... i.e. if "foo.com" is taken, I try "foohelp.com" or "fooinfo.com", etc. Any other good ones to try?

I just move on to the next niche. Seriously though, the exact match keyword boost in SERPS is amazing.

I also move on to the next one as it seems there are plenty of them out there at the moment. However, if the numbers look really good and you want to try it anyways, you can also try 'productguide.com', 'productfacts.com', or even just add 'theproduct.com'.

What is the recommended way or tool to check backlinks in my sites?

Where can I learn basic stuff like:

**What is the meaning of "being indexed"?
**What does a "unique" means?
And things like that, because I read those almost in all threads but doesn't
understand the meaning!.

Thank you

Archkre,

Just Ask :-)

"Being Indexed" means that your site can be found in the search engines. If you have 'been indexed' then your site is listed in that search engine. Just because you are 'indexed' in Google, does not necessarily mean you are indexed in Yahoo or Bing though. they are all different.

"Unique" means that the content of your website is, at least a certain percentage, different then content that is already 'indexed' on the search engines. Different opinions are out there as to what percentage qualifies your content as being 'unique' in the eyes of the search engines. However, if you wrote the content yourself, out of your own thoughts, then you can almost be assured that it is 'unique', no guarantee though... :-)

I'll sometimes use "tips" or "info", but it's rare. Really needs to be a great keyword. Most of the time I move on to a different one that will still have the numbers I'm looking for.

John if you have seen my post then please I look forward to your answer on

Questions:
When we will search for a niche, we should always look for high searches and low competition. Should we also look out for how many Adwords or Advertisers are bidding for that keyword niche (I believe you said something about test it with spyfu) as I do not want to jump into a exact keyword domain and build a site and put Adsense Ads and later find it out that those Ads appearing are not relevant to my site content or no advertisers for that keyword niche?

Earning that much money by adsense is a real success. I think the trick here is that you never gave up. You kept on trying until you found something that worked.

I know the ideal buzz is 1 minisite in 1 .com domain.
Is it possible to jump start adding several subdomains per each .com domain?

Are those sites going to work or is it going to be a total waste of time and money no matter how good optimized the minisites are?
Than you

Thanks for this post.
My site that I developed 4 months ago generate revenue $15 (not $15/day... just $15) . Is it because no products as you mentioned above in my site?

I read every post and I'm still confused about using or not using a company name in the url.

The domain name using your keywords is critical. A important part of the keywords is using a company name. If we can't use the company name in the url, how are most people getting around not using the company name but still staying focused on the keyword.

Example: If I want to focus on "Norelco Hair Curlers" as my keyword, is using just haircurlersreview.com my best choice? Is that a strong enough keyword url to rank for Norelco Hair Curlers if I do all of the other onpage and offpage seo?

Thanks for the help

This has already been mentioned already:

Simply go to spyfu.com and expect 1/2 of the lowest bid per click.

Again, simply go to spyfu.com and see how many advertisers are
paying for that ad.

Also, other related ads may show up as well, so that's always a
good thing.

About searches/competition, we've covered that to death already
in this thread.

I have been using the brand name in my urls and have not had any trouble yet.

Disclaimer: I do not know if this going to last as I heard that big wiggs like ebay and other are cracking down on people using trade marks.
