Hi i am using wordpress blog for my website and i want to know should i use tags?
The problem is when i use tags, it only displays the posts (relevant posts) from the same tags and not the category. Should i use tags regardless? or is it better to not use tags?

Yes, you should use relevant tags.

I've never seen any reason to use WP Tags If a Category exist.

Pick one category name & leave it at that, otherwise you'll have a bunch of duplicate internal pages which will leave Googlebot to make a decision which page gets shown in the SERPs & which duplicate pages get buried in Supplemental SERPs. In that case (duplicate internal pages) it's doubtful Google will pick the page your trying to rank.

    Keep it simple.

No point for tags. It only creates multiple pages that have same/similar/duplicate content. Does more harm than good.

    Hey,

I actually do use tags for my blog posts.

However, I only stick to one tag per blog post because each of my posts all are out to rank for only 1 keyword.

Using tags hasn't gotten me any negative results with Google, but I would suggest limiting the amount of tags that you add to each post.

    Hope this was helpful!

And here's the wrong way to use tag archives. This is the recipe for duplicate content. If you have the archive pages showing the whole article and use tags that are unique within your site - well, you've just created an almost exact copy of your original article.

Categories are meant to link similar content together to help your users and possibly also search engines. I don't recommend tags any more.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.

You should use relevant tags. Tags are similar to categories, but they are generally used to describe your post in more detail.

Use relevant tags and if worried about the duplicate contents, make the category pages nofollow and add the same tag as category name to all posts along with other useful tags.
