It's an interesting article, as is the article that this one is talking about, but it doesn't really say they're not ranking sites that are doing obvious SEO. What I got out of it, was that if a site is associated with a "known" SEO -- which I took to mean someone that is known in the SEO community -- or does things that only SEOs would know about (like nofollowing links) that they may take a closer look at their site, and make recommendations about modifications (based on an experience Graywolf had).

Not quite the same thing as not ranking them top 10.

Proper SEO means more, high quality, Adsense ad clicks. You do the math from there.

Be careful of what you read.

Laymen terms: Don't believe everything you read.

Just because you've seen it written doesn't mean it's etched in stone.

    And...about 10 thousand other metaphors I can think of...

Gotta take everything with a pinch of salt. Each and every commercial website on the net has had SEO work done to them so where would they draw the line? De-index ALL websites and be left with a few hobby stores?

lolz at this line : "Don't do Search Engine Optimization!"

    hahahaha

This is scaremongering at it's very worst.

entertaining article, but I don't buy it, SEO is both a science and an art and Google's smarter than that. Sounds like someone want's to just get some attention to their site.

SEO is going to be around for a long time to come. They may figure out a way to update their algorithm to stop some of the stuff we're currently doing to game them but if and when they do we'll find a new way.

The article is full of information but still I suggest don't believe on it blindly. Because the articles are not correct always.. It can improve your knowledge but its not complete..

I didn't read the article but after all it makes sense:

You have nofollow tags on your site? Only advanced webmasters do it.
You have special seo tricks? Only advanced webmasters have them...

My point is: in 2009 (and from now on) i won't tell google i am a webmaster/seo. I don't use G webmasters tools, Analytics, nothing. Nada. I removed header tags and i am just acting like a non-webmaster who has some sites.
