How horrible is the art market? supplies are cheap, I found a few click bank video lessons that I can make 60 bucks a sale maybe... but most art supplies are in the 20 dollar range or less. However I am finding keywords with a cost per click of 15 bucks, I watched a noble samurai video what said a high cost per click is a good indicator of high commerciality. But I also have read that you should aim for high price low volume sales. I do love the niche though and feel i would enjoy writing about it. Is it a bad idea?

No, it's not a bad idea. Your love for the market is your strength and will help you persist until you find that sweet pot you're looking for.

So, now you'll have to put in the research.

    1. Find out the current unsolved problems, frustrations and irritations in the market. Yes, make a list.

Hang out on Art Market Supply forums, check out Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites that cater to the Art Market Supply crowd. That's where people discuss current problems.

    2. Look for the solutions to the problems you discover in step 1.

    3. Find a special niche few or no others are covering or ... covering as well as you could.

    4. Find what product(s) or service(s) people are paying for and try to improve ... that something!

For example, Whatever it is ...
    • Can you make it easier to use, maintain or store?
    • Can you help them get faster results?
    • Can you make it last longer, or offer ways to preserve it?
    • Can you provide a product or service that helps save them time or inconvenience?
    • Can you add something to it no else has done?
    • Can you a eliminate a negative or limitation that comes with it?
    • Can you make it safer or help reduce risk of making a mistake.
Caution: Don't be too quick to say no to the above questions until you've given yourself time to think on it. You'd be surprised what your brain will give you once you pose the right questions to it. Just give it time along with a little research.

Be ready with getting ideas in the shower, after you wake in the morning or even while you're driving. Keep a paper & pencil handy at all times so you can write down any ideas.

You said you love writing about the Art Supplies market , so the first obvious step is to start a blog, a video newsletter or YouTube page and later maybe even a membership site.

There's tons of ways to monetize those. The main thing is to do the research and get started.

Research, Test, Evaluate, Make Adjustments, Rinse and Repeat ... until you Succeed!

    Good Luck!

Not a bad idea. I personally like to stick with niches that cause pain/emotion because it easier to sell them a product, but if your passionate about art, that will give you motivation to stick too it like the fellow before said.

Michaels does about $4 billion in sales a year so there's probably some money in the art/crafts niche.

A set of brushes on Amazon most recently was one of the top 10 sellers in the entire site. So, there is a demand for art. I would suggest that you set up your own products. Go to Alibaba.com and contact an art supplier. Find high quality manufacturer. Then get that product's template and place your own design on it. You can sell supplies right out of Amazon without having to distribute, customer service, or any of that.

    That's what I would do.

    Hey,

It is best to keep in mind that every niche is somewhat competitive and some are more than others. However, money is always being made in every niche.

If you are truly passionate about this niche and are very knowledgeable about it, I would suggest that you continue with it. Trust me, it is such an awesome thing to not only make money, but to make it from a niche that you are passionate about.

    Hope this tip is helpful!

I like The Niche Man's answer. Passion is really one of the most important things here.

Yahoo! Answers and forums are great ways of finding out what frustrations your target market is experiencing.

Also note that one of the most popular art programs is Corel's Painter Pro. It's an incredible program, really. Corel has an affiliate program, and it looks like they give up to 10% comission.

On the whole, you get what you pay for.

If you have a real passion for the Art niche then why not? You will only succeed by doing what you love. The majority of Internet Marketers promote how to make money products but very little succeed. They are convincing others they can help them succeed while they are working a 9-5.

If your passion is ART then promote that niche and you will have more experience with what you are promoting.

Thanks everybody. My only concern now is my own artistic skills. I want to write articles, but my competition are INSANELY good artist.Though they lack on and off page optimization.

It feels like a silly question, But is google even able to rank a site higher because the artist is good? I can't imagine a robot being able to judge artwork, but I also would hate to underestimate googles technology.

I can certainly write about techniques, problems and solutions, and products. But I have competition that is displaying photo realistic pieces of artwork that will take me a LOT of determination to be able to do myself, which would distract me from marketing.

Hmm, they have better artistic skills, you have better page optimization and marketing skills. So, instead of competing why not try to collaborate? ... Don't just think from one angle, think from different angles. Horizontally, vertically and even side-ways. Do that and you're ahead of many people already.

Google doesn't know what a good artist is, they know things like historical data (example). With that being said, Google also knows images that are heavily backlinked or hotlinked (Google Image search) so that's one area of SEO that can easily be optimized.

Target a sub-niche & don't compete directly with authority sites.
