Hijacked Link in Google Results

When I search "gcilift" in Google the top result is www.gcilift.com, as expected. However, when I click on the main link it goes to www.onfootlocker.com. It doesn't make sense at all to me. Google literally shows the proper link in the search results but the title is wrong and it directs you to the wrong place.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

    Google initially directs the visitors to www. gcilift.com. From there it gets redirected to the foot locker site. Looks to me like the GCI site is hacked, and someone inserted a redirect for search engine traffic. It doesn't redirect if you type in the URL directly.

      Thanks for the response! I looked through the page source and I can't seem to find how they altered the page.

      Would you reupload the index page and change the server passwords to fix the problem? What other steps and precautions should I take?

    Honestly, I would get the host involved. They are usually a lot better at finding these problems. It's something deeper than just the index page.

    It's definitely a very strange one.

    After hunting around, it appears that one of the images is being used to redirect to onfootlocker via

    web.51.la:82/go.asp?svid=1&id=16673935&tpages=4&ttimes=1&tzone= 10&tc...www.gcilift.com/&vpage=http%3A//www.onfootlocker.com/&vvtime=1404770244317

    If you can't find the code, do like Mike said, contact your site host & have them fix the problem. Once you get it straightened out, start shopping for a new host because odds are it will happen again.

    If the OP actually owns that domain, he's got more problems than can be solved here.

    It looks plain html built. But if the settings redirect index.php to index.html,
    then there might be something on index.php running before redirecting. That should
    not happen in the real world if the original settings are done correctly. But they could
    have been compromised. Looks like there is no auto index.php redirect like there
    should be.

    Here's another thought. The redirect looks like it is only for search bots. The cached
    index page is a hoot.

    Check that again. Looks like it is an oh-so-simple javascript.

    <script>
    var s=document.referrer;
    if(s.indexOf("google")>0 || s.indexOf("bing")>0 || s.indexOf("aol")>0 || s.indexOf("yahoo")>0)
    {
    self.location='http://www.onfootlocker.com/';
    }
    </script>

    Any click in search will get redirected.

    An easy delete of that, a changing of your password, and perhaps getting a better,
    more secure server. Well, I'd demand it!

      Hey there -

      I run a web hosting business and have cleaned up these types of hacks. This is generally a multi-part hack, but most of the action takes place in your .htaccess file.

      There are usually three parts that have to be cleaned up at the same time, or the hack will simply regenerate itself. The well known variant of this hack is called the Pharma hack, so if you google that, you can get a better understanding of how these work.

      If you'd like to PM me, I'd be happy to give you a hand.

      Mike

      The redirect was working off a Google search (gcilift), it didn't redirect when going straight to the domain. Looks like OP got it straightened out.

    Well, i guess here the owner of the "gcilift" is redirecting user to different site "onfootlocker"! I think the admin wants to shut down the gc... and that might be the reason behind !

    That does not sound like a problem with Google but more with your site. It seems as though your site is being redirected, you should contact your web hosting company because there is also a possibility that your site has been hacked.
