I have pretty much given up on this site or any site actually... just cant get it ranking... after failing with small niche sites I tried focusing on an authority type site...I've tried everything...

Concentrated on building a large site full of unique and value filled articles.. it has great content with videos and images and graphs and really good info, well designed etc..

Site is about 3 yrs old now with nearly 600 pages indexed in google and a pr of 3

main page has nearly 6000 facebook likes, 2500 google plus, high twitter links etc etc... other pages have good social scores too.

it has quite a few backlinks pointing to it... has about 8.5k links in ahrefs.com and more showing elsewhere.. links are well spread and variety of anchor texts etc..

it has good design, fast loading, no errors, internal linking, easy to navigate, good titles... seo is fine (not over done) etc...

BUT NO PAGE IS RANKING... the best I can get the main page (site url) is page 7 on google serps... all other pages are even further down than that...

.Ive tried article marketing, video marketing, and many other forms of links.... it is well promoted on many web2 sites, q&a sites and is promoted on facebook, google plus and twitter by accounts with 5000 plus friends etc etc...

the site just seems impossible to get ranking....what can I do next?

NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK???

any help would be much appreciated??? thanks

What do your visitor logs tell you?

Where is your traffic coming from?

Could it be that your content sucks?

Why are the current visitors not buying anything?

Have you tried to convert paid traffic?

We can't possibly help you until you have absolute, definitive, concrete answers to these questions.

Yeh, tell us about the traffic. I bet its not zero. I'd guess it's your monetisation strategy more than anything else.

I would forget about SEO and ranking cause the moment you do a good job with that,Google will spring another animal on you. I would concentrate on building a following with a list. Put an opt in form on your site and start going after subscribers, followers etc through list building....you know what they say...the money is in the list. I have had it with G. Good luck

Here's an idea... If you do not believe in, like, or just plain suck at SEO, maybe you should just try not answering when someone has an SEO question.

I hate when people come into the SEO forum and tell others they shouldn't bother with SEO.

Are these real likes or likes you bought?

Either way though, social plays pretty much no role in rankings.

Number of links has nothing to do with rankings. They could all be junk.

These are pretty low quality links.

Again, real accounts or someone you found on Fiverr offering to promote the site on their accounts?

There really is not enough information for anyone to diagnose a ranking problem.

There's the problem. Those are useless links for ranking pages.

Most are probably even nofollow links.

I admit the links are probably not the best and many are nofollow as since G attacked guest posts many people made the links nofollow... I admit I am not very good at getting those golden links...

the traffic is approx 150-200 sessions per day.. 18-34 yrs old from US... half comes from mobile half from desktop

the revenue is adsense, affiliate links and i also sell an ebook on the site..

i have a subscriber thing going, with about 500 people on it so far..

the social signals are all real... I used to promote it using a very popular facebook account and google plus profile.. using groups.. trouble is people will click the like buttons but wont click the ads or affiliate links .. and bugger all are buying the ebook..

That's the problem with traffic that's not already committed to a niche, social has a lot of window shoppers blazing through their social account looking at images & what their friends Like & refer them. I know this because I watch my family do these things (window shopping from social accounts).

Something like a targeted same niche forum has people that are already committed to the niche, otherwise they wouldn't have wasted time creating a niche profile. I'm talking about real people interested in the niche, not spammers blasting profiles.

Really those two things (forums & social) aren't SEO, it's direct traffic because both link types are some of the weakest links you can get. So listing those two link types is pretty much irrelevant why your pages aren't ranking, you can take that out of the equation & focus on what matters, good links from relevant domains.

You said in OP that the site is an authority, so don't you have some strong links from same/similar niche sites?

Are you promoting your domain on sites that matter? Your doing social but that's pretty much not doing anything from what you've posted here (no sales/clicks). Target strong same niche domain pages that will help push your own pages up the SERPs.

Don't get me wrong, multiple traffic sources are awesome but they need to either be promoting you to buyers or buying directly from you otherwise they're just fluff.
