I wouldn't buy into any "guaranteed" SEO methods or program. It's mainly about delivering the results a searcher is looking for, not promising and failing to deliver.

In SEO, nothing is guaranteed, so don't believe those promises. However, if you hire someone who knows what they are doing, they could get your site into the top 10 results for your target keywords.

If you blindly walk into SEO without knowing what your doing/buying you'll probably end up getting hosed. Learn SEO, then later on If you want to outsource the work your less likely to get hosed by a seller.

At one time I ranked #5 for “website design” and that drove more traffic to my site then a #1 ranking for “custom website designs”.


Sometimes all you need to do is get close.


Of course Google penalized the site and we lost all our rankings but then that was 3 years later, and just guessing I would guess at least a million dollar later.


Was it worth it?



My site could penalized forever and in a desperate act of panic I deleted a couple hundred pages of good, unique content and sadly I've spent all the money the site made. But it was good while it lasted.


I bought a new domain name and while there are no penalties from Google the old penalized site still gets more traffic from the links pointing at it then the new site gets. So...will I try and break the rules and get another site banned or will I follow the rules and have a site that gets no... to... very little traffic from Google?


Hmm...since I spent all the money and need to make more, I am thinking I'll try and rank another site. It doesn't have to rank #1 and it does not need to be there forever but if I do nothing then I've lost my $10.00 investment.

My question for you is how much keyword research have you done prior to your SEO efforts? Finding the right keywords and pursing the ones with good traffic and moderate to weak competition is paramount.

There are SEO companies out there that offer guaranteed SERP improvements with free trials, just search around until you find one that gives you the best results.

No, it isn't possible for every keyword. If Google had their way, everyone would give up SEO. So that might give you some idea of how effective it might be 10 years from now.

Here's what you can do for free:

Write high-quality content for human readers. Also, come up with long tail keywords that human readers might put into Google to find your content/site, and incorporate those where it is natural to do so.

Use social media to spread your content around. In my experience, people will link to high-quality, authoritative content. Those are the backlinks you want.

More tips:

1. Link out to authority sites

2. Privacy Policy, TOS and affiliate disclaimer (if you're an affiliate). You need them.

3. Get your bounce rate down. A high bounce rate can mean two things: the site should not have ranked for the keyword it did, or it isn't useful for the visitor.

4. Send brand signals.

If your domain is www.bestpettoys.com, try www.petplay.com instead. (Those might be real sites. I have no idea) Google wants you to carve out your own Internet real estate. They trust brands.

Create a thorough About Us page. Create an identity for your brand.

In the example above, you would have active social media accounts for "petplay" on all of the major sites. Bring people to your site from those branded accounts. (Hint: Pinterest for Business)

5. Build Domain trust.

Register your domain for 2+ years. Google is a domain registrar. They don't sell domains, but they can see your WhoIs info. They want to know that you're committed. Keep your WhoIs info public. No real company has private WhoIs info. Put your WhoIs info in your Contact Us page if possible.

6. If you must actively seek backlinks, make sure you check their link profile first. PageRank doesn't tell you everything you need to know.
