Hi.

I have no idea how to fix this, so if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Google has indexed the Swedish version of my clients site (in English though) in the .co.uk search and has removed the co.uk version (only the hompage by the looks of it).

The domain is BancTec UK - Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Services | Solutions for Document & Payment Processing which they have removed and only show BancTec UK - Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Services | Solutions for Document & Payment Processing - how can i report this to google or fix it myself?

Please help!! :'(

Misch

Submit a sitemap. It may work.

Many thanks for the advice - I have done that to no joy - apparently it is a problem with Google's dup algorithm in general - it might be that we have to ban that domain from the SE...not good!

have you setup webmaster tools? if not add both websites then in there you can set the geo location of each domain, set the uk one for uk and vice versa. Then on the sweden one change the title so its unique and take "UK" out of the title of the sweden one.

also you could use the link rel canonical tag on the sweden one to point back to the uk one so that even if google sees the sweden one it will tell google that the original page is the uk one.

do a search on link rel canonical tag to learn a little more.

It's not really going to matter that much, since keyword ranking is based on IP Location of the user any way, and since they have different domain extensions, one is going to rank for co.uk search engine for that site that has the co.uk domain, while the other will rank in the Swedish search engine. But if you are really that concerned, go ahead and translate the swedish one into swedish Job Done.

btw, you got links on there that open up in a new window, not very good webmaster practices, you should keep the visitors on the same page if the information is still on the same site, only take a visitor to a new window if you are taking them away from your site.

Here direct from a Google employee this will help

Yes - a Sitemap is a prime method of pointing to URLs that you would prefer indexed.
If Google see's multiple URLs of the Same/Very Similar content, and only one is provided inthe Sitemap, it may take it as a good indication of which one you want indexed.
(Pelae be aware, Sitemaps are no guaranteed to be Cralwed etc. Further, no guarantee of Googletaking the "hint" and following it!)

    If you have multiple URLs with the Same/Similar content;
    1) Try to replace the Alternative URL with the Preferred URL whenever possible
    2) Try applying NoFollow to links pointing to alternative URLs
    3) Try using the <link rel="canonical"> Element to point to the preferred URL from the Alternative URL
    4) Only include the Preferred URL in the SE SItemap
