Hi all.
In this thread I would like to discuss way of getting links on wikipedia. For example, recently as experiment I found a useful web page on a reputable website. And I published a link to this page on one of wiki articles. By the way, this article on wikipedia was absolutely relevant to the material I've referred. In my opinion it could be really useful info for wikipedia's readers because article on wikipedia not so deep reveals the meaning of the theme. A day later the link was removed .
How to contact moderators of Wikipedia? Or how you can edit material of wiki and place relevant link without a danger of their removing? Any thoughts?

If the link was removed from Wikipedia, the link was obviously spam.

I've never tried it but know people who have gotten wikpedia links. Long story short you have to find a topic moderators are NEVER going to check. Like find a listing for something NOBODY cares about, and the post your link there.

      That's not true.

I have around a couple dozen links that have been on Wikipedia for a few years, the links are still live today. Those links point to my money sites.

Folks over complicate Wikipedia especially considering Wikipedia literally ask for specific content directly on their site.

The main key is unbiased links/pages.

Wikipedia content is edited by users. So, if the content looks like you put t there just to get a link, it's never going to make it.

  • Advisable to never put all eggs in one basket. Wikipedia is just one site out there in billions of site. Yes, Wikipedia is a good site and has high PR too. No question about it.

All you have to do to get a link that sticks is actually have the content on your site that is worth a link from Wikipedia! I have over a dozen wikipedia links to 2 of my sites that just turned up over time and I had nothing to do with them other than create the content on my site.

It can be done, I did it once. Just be extremely careful, and maybe do some testing on inserting links to Wikipedia.

In my case, since I inserted too much links in a short time, and some of them were rejected, I've got my domain on the Wikipedia blacklist. And that blacklist is one of Google algo factors, so I lost my rank

They can accept your link to the "external links" section if your site is helpful to the article on wiki.

Do you have an opposite experience, in a way that your website got on Wikipedia blacklist, and it didn't affected on the rank?

You can read this article, too.

Cool, let me spam my competition site there .

That article is close to a decade old and what is the proof other than Wikipedia itself saying that probably to deter spammers. I wish it was true, things would become very easy.

EDIT: huh look at Matts comment explaining they don't care about that shit because its very easy way to negative seo.

Yes, as cool as you want it to be. You can do it.

And please, spare me with assumptions and second hand conclusions. Try it and reply.

Wikipedia moderators are very cool. I have tried inserting some relevant links but they wont accept it unless you a big name in particular niche. So stop wasting your time linking back from Wiki plus wiki links are no follow links.

Wikipedia links are not worth much, even if the pages themselves have high PR (all of wiki pages do) they won't rank shit.

Getting link from wikipedia is not so difficult. Wikipedia is only a site that can be edited by user. If you are going to add link in wikipedia then make sure your link should be in place of dead link, otherwise your link may be removed or may be in spam.
