Should I have a "Blog" page?

So I've been working on ranking two sites for about 2 weeks now. I've been working on back links but I keep wondering if I should have an actual "Blog" page on my sites.

Both are similar, each site has to do with a certain job/career/trade and I'm using the same wordpress theme. Each site has a static home page with about 3-4 other pages each with an article about a specific topic related to that job such as How to become an xxxxx, xxxx training programs, etc..

I'm just not sure if I should also have a blog page in addition to these static pages with articles. Is it necessary for me to add this and start posting new articles there regularly?

I know it's still early and I am not getting impatient. I'm working on building back links and trying to get in touch with other sites to possibly guest post. One of the sites is floating between pages 4 and 5 for one keyword already which is great. I'd just like to keep the momentum going strong.

any bit of unique content will help your site. A blog is another easy way to reach people and likely will increase user engagement. if you write a blog post and link it back to your main site, that's an easy backlink for you.

You could easily build back links to that blog as well, building up it's pagerank/authority and then linking from that blog to your money site. Think of it as building tiers. People are more inclined to follow or subscribe to your blog rather than your website.

    Cheers!

Thanks for the reply. I sort of meant having a blog page on my site, posting articles regularly in addition to all of the static pages with general information articles on them.

I don't plan on having two separate sites, one of them the main site and the other being the blog. Therefore I don't think it would really be a back link?

It is better to have a blog page on your site, google love to see the content of your site is updating regularly. For a better results, submit those blog post on different social bookmarking sites (reddit, stumbleupon) and blog aggregators (alltop). Also make an RSS feeds and submit to different RSS submission sites (feedage).

        Hope it helps!

Depends if you're using it to actually pull in readers or just get search engine traffic. Should def. have a blog if you're updating content, the question is how prominent you make it (which depends on the quality of your content).

Yes, it is better to have your own blog in your current website. Having your own blog is like telling people that you are a real person who can provide solutions or services to them. Having your own blog will also promote your leadership and expertise. It will make people trust you. And we all know that people's trust is important in this industry.

In addition, professionals and high quality bloggers loves to work with leaders and loves to guest post on a site that has good traffic. To increase traffic, you should post unique topics twice a week (minimum) in your blog.

One last thing... remember that there's no easy way to success, so ALWAYS BE PATIENT.

    Hi Borce,

Yes, I recommend having a Blog page for each of your sites and creating at least two posts per month to add to them. The reason is that you can rank for more keywords and drive more traffic with blog posts. Each page show up in Google for a keyword, but with blog posts, you increase your chances for showing up because, if you continually create new content, the posts are indexed by Google.

We have a client who we write about 10 posts for each month, and their leads have increased by 40%. Getting their content out there in Google has definitely helped them come up in search more for people searching for their services.

Hope this helps in your decision whether to create a blog page or not for your sites.

Blogging is a great way to communicate with your audience. It's affective because of the comments area below your specific topics. When you create the content and start the discussion you'll be able to get a better idea of what your audience actually WANTS!

Listening to your target market right inside your backyard (blog) is a huge benefit. You'll have an easier time preparing services, products and identifying their problems. Ultimately, we're problem solvers.

This is way creating an emailing list is useful. We can ask our email list specific questions or watch how they react to specific content. If you have a blog you'll be able to start building that list and truly start communicating easier.

That blog is where perspective customers will be. Take that opportunity to bring them aboard your venture!

I agree with most all said here but really agree with Pororo. You've already created the content on your website, so now generate those extra back links by submitting to your outside blogs. If it were to only generate a couple of engaged customers/viewers, it would be worth the few seconds it took to copy and paste.
