I've selected a lot of low competition keywords appropriate for my business, but I can't seem to find any local keywords. Nearly all of them are high competition or have very low monthly searches. I hope that my fellow warriors can bestow their supreme intelligence upon my uninformed head and and suggest what I should do in this case. Also, is there any distinct difference between attempting to rank for local or global searches besides the focus on local keywords?

I'm targeting the state level (NJ), by the way.
Thank you!
