hello warriors,

I want to buy domain for my brand new website. So i need your help!
I'm confused about choosing domain name, because almost all of them are sold out so i thought to buy different domain name. For example main keyword for my website is new smartphone, can i take smartphonegear.com
and simply rank this one to my main keyword..

How do you think?? or it will take to much time??

The power of Exact Match Domains (EMDs) is falling off. It still helps, but it's not nearly the trump card it once was. I recommend just choosing a related domain that fits your topic and optimizing pages to rank for your targeted keywords. It definitely doesn't have to be exact anymore.

Really, manually checking out a list of competitors might be the best way.

You could use Screaming Frog SEO Spider (it's free for up to 500 results) to crawl competitor sites and give you a layout of their content, or Open Site Explorer (free for a limited amount of results) and click the "Top Pages" tab to view their most popular content.

Everything not EMD will be ok, but of course with your main keyword in domain name , nad COM ext. (:

Truely, most important on-page factor these days are related to content optimization.

If you will not be promoting the site via radio ads or TV A-B.org can work as well. If you plan on promoting through radior or TV then get something short that people can remember when they see or hear your ad.

Also, I don't know if that is actually your niche, but since you said smartphone as an example, be careful that you don't register a trademarked domain name because that can get you in trouble with the TM owners. Good luck!

I wouldn't worry as much about Google and getting ranked. Let's say you got ranked in the next month, the risk of falling off the Google tree is huge as soon as big G decides to throw in another update. If I were you I would focus on different ways to get traffic and figure out what traffic sourceworks best for you. That way you wouldn't be affected by any updates. Of course you would have to know where your audience hangs out, but I take it you've done your research.
    Good luck!

While don't agree about being afraid of google, if smartphone is your choice, then other avenues
of traffic are your best bet. Your competition is just light years ahead of you, and will
always be ahead of you. Unless you create the next amazon, best buy, etc. or perhaps
      buy blackberry and revamp that....

I don't know why people seem to want to rely 90% on google. They seem to have
      a 10% real business.

If you were disappointed in your results today, lower your standards tomorrow.

If you're not set on using a .com as TLD, you could try .ninja or .expert TLD as it's the new thing. You could easily get an EMD for a new extention rather than a .com which is already taken.
