Are no follow blogs/forums worth it ?

So I have a quick question .. For those building backlinks , are no follow blogs worth it ? For example , doing guest commenting on blogs or forums that automatically generate the rel="no follow" tag would be wasting my time right ? Posting a relevant post on warrior forum (this one) would not help you if you include your backlink in your post ? Please help me understand the no follow tag .. Thank you
#blogs #blogs or forums #follow #worth

You're right, EuropeGiant. Don't ever think of such things. It's best to let your presence be heard and have engaging conversation. That's how forums work.

No follow links help to diversify your link profile and make it look natural. A link profile without no follow backlinks is deemed an unnatural one by Google.

Really true...Google may penalise a link profile having no "no follow backlinks" as it can be deemed as unnatural. In addition, no follow links are also helpful in getting some traffic.

Thats the one good use of nofollowed links. Have to agree with Ice. Getting penalized for NOT having nofollowed links is waaaay out there.

Indeed. I've actually been using a Wikipedia page as a parasite page now for 3-months. It's a topic that nobody seems to moderate, so I have 3-links dropped in there to my affiliate site. Brings me between 50 - 80 visitors per day. I'm not getting juice, but why would I turn down 1,500 - 2,500 visitors per month, for free?

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

Are you living in cuckoo land?

Why would Google consider it unnatural? Google doesn't care about how many links you acquire, or whether their nofollow. They care about the quality of them, and whether they were naturally acquired or built/paid for.

My affiliate sites don't have a single nofollow link (at least from what I've made), and their ranking #1 absolutely fine and have been for months.

The only reason to acquire a nofollow link is for pure traffic purposes. If you think a nofollow link will bring relevant and targeted traffic, then go for it. An idea of this is a nofollow link at the end of a blog post on Moz.com. Chances are, it'll bring you some traffic so it's worth considering.

Every other post from you is jibberish, dishing out irrelevant and incorrect "advice".

Thats 90s SEO. Unless you have a totally crap site there is no reason to go out looking for nofollow links. They will find you naturally AND some followed links will turn into nofollow anyway

Looking for nofollow links is a TOTAL WASTE of time

If you want real niche relevant traffic, then you need not bother about no follow. However you need to identify the blogs / forums in your niche with high volume of traffic and participate in those sites in many ways like being regular commenter and helpful contributor. Use your real name and if possible your real photo in gravatar. If the people are really benefited out of your contributions they will definitely come to your site and become your sincere followers.

However if your aim is just to identify the do follow links and spam irrelevant comments then forget about commenting. Google has very much reduced the ranking benefits out of comment links. Now the major benefit is going to be traffic rather than seo benefit. Building your reputation goes long way in proving yourself as an authority in your niche rather being an unknown guy's website.

Thank you .. Trust me , I have not been leaving comments here and there . I know that it is not good for SEO to spam. I only post on relevant sites asking relevant questions, but I was only doing that on do follow sites.

You definitely need backlinks to rank better. Dofollow backlinks will let your site rank better. But you also need high pr authority backlinks to get traffic and pr for your website.

IMO, SEO is not all about links, it is a little bit of engagement too. It is not what you ca give the search engines it is what you can give to your audience.

No-follow links can be effective in diversifying the link profile besides building rich conversations. No harm in going for them and these are certainly not a waste of time.

Focus on building your readership first and that will naturally lead you to where your audience hangs out. Thinking of your audience first will drive and motivate your actions in a way that 'backlinking' on a forums or blogs for SEO purposes cannot. I'm just saying, don't think of whether or not it's no follow or do follow, just focus on the person reading your post or comment.

What you should focus on is placing your website in the right place, in related websites to your content, and forget whether they are follow or no follow.

OP is clearly talking about SEO since he mentioned rel="no follow" tag, not direct niche traffic.

The answer is nofollow links won't rank a page.

I'm not sure where the confusion is, it's literally spelled out (no follow).

If you can get a link, why the hell not. Of course if its from a good forum such as Warriorforum which is a good authoritative place (of course that doesn't mean to go spamming this place now lol).

I wouldn't waste too much time on that because nofollow links don't rank but for example for diversifying your link profile its good enough.

Your energies should be spent on good do-follow backlinks where the page have authority itself as that is the only thing that ranks.
