Hi all,

Does anyone know if backlinks from orphan webpages (so webpages on a website that aren't linked to by any part of the website) worth anything in terms of getting a serp boost?

Its a .edu in this case not that it should make any difference.

    • It's PAGErank not DOMAINrank.

      PR flows through links.

  • I know at one time .gov and .edu backlinks were all the craze. They helped people rank better for their keywords in a much shorter time.

That said, these days who knows anymore. Every time Google makes a change the backlash on sites is tremendous. Then you have to try and figure out what still works and what you need to change.

    It's a constant struggle.

It's all about IMers using edu/gov as a sales pitch & other IMers taking the bait because they don't know any better.
    • It was always a big fat lie.
  • Edu and gov links having a major role in seo for ranking. It shows trust and authority
