adding content to a website to make it more google friendly without adding subpages, will that work?

what i mean is. suppose i have a domain called

allaboutcreditcards.com

and a subpage called allboutcreditcards.com/fixyourcredit.html

I want to optimize both pages for different keywords so i want to keep adding content(information, articles i've written, etc) to both independently, but i don't want it to be a subpage, i want to add it either on the index.html(home page) or fixyourcredit.html because they will each be optimized for different keywords.

Will this work , or will Google not see as new content and i must create subpages and "grow out" my website so to speak.

  • Search engine spiders will see the new content but your web site will only ever be 2 pages and therefore limited.

Why would you only want 2 pages there seem to be many disadvantages with this: -
    - you say you are only targeting 2 keywords, why not more with additional pages
    - spiders would not like pages with huge amounts of content on one page so extra content added may not get its full weighting
    - visitors will not think it is a content rich site
  • no... don't add all your content to one page, as this will dilute the effectiveness of
your keywords. Instead, create new pages for each keyword you want to target.
Not only will this concentrate your keyword effectiveness, it will also start to improve
the quality of your site in the eyes of the search negines.

  • Yes, add as much as you can to the home page until it gets to big that it affects the load time.

I do this on my home page (see music site in sig) and its really, really long over 2,500 words but I get tons of traffic to it because of long tail keywords.

    • That's a cool royalty free music site. I bookmarked it for future projects.
