Backlinks Aren't Showing Up... Why Not?

Hi guys,

I have been building some basic backlinks to my EzineArticles.com articles lately. Nothing too insane, just some social bookmarking and posts on some hosted blogs I have. However, when I checked today, my backlinks still haven't been indexed. It's been about 5 days now and I have heard lots of people say that their backlinks get indexed in like a few hours.

Am I just worrying too much? Do backlinks take time to be recognized?

Basically I just put up the links to the article, including on my blog which pings automatically after each post. The social bookmarking stuff I would have thought would have helped itself?

Please help me here.

    That's a common problem. You build backlinks to get something indexed. But how do the backlinks itself get indexed or noticed? If you build backlinks on pages that never get discovered or indexed, they are worth nothing. Once indexed, it also takes same time until the backlinks unleash their power for the rankins (ranking update).

      From my experience, my answers would be:

      1. Yes, backlinks takes time to show up. Some take hours, others weeks or months.

      2. It may never show up if you use Google since Google won't show all your backlinks, especially those what Google perceive as low quality ones like from social bookmarking sites. Try Yahoo! Site Explorer to check your backlinks instead.

      Be patient. When it comes to building your backlinks, persistence and patience are the keys.

    Backlinks takes time to ne recorded... and it depends on the popularity of page where your link is posted..
