When I begin, I learn a lot from smartpassiveincome.com. Maybe the course is old, but can give you a lot of ideas.

Russell Wright and Sue Bell from Network Empire. I learn more from them in their 7 day certification trainings than I learn the entire year with all the other courses that I take. I have taken their training twice and each time I am just blown away.

I prefer to read Moz articles and news, there SEO information are not biased and are up to date, forums also are a good source specially for beginners, but they are usually full of old and outdated SEO information.

I agree that Moz is great for beginners and those are trying to understand how it all works together to happen. For me though, Moz is just useless. They spout the same regurgitated stuff, re-written to make it sound new.

Once you understand the concepts of SEO and Marketing, I'd suggest reading blogs such as: Viral Marketing - ViperChill

It is not the content nor the information you're after, it's the case studies. There are people out there who dissect and pull apart whole marketing strategies. Doing this yourself takes hours upon hours, if not days. Let others do it for you, and use it as part of your strategy.

After all, SEO is all about data and analytics. Google won't tell you what works, so you use data to find correlations and try to figure out yourself what works and what doesn't.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

I have been working on SEO before MOZ came to existence, and I agree with you, they repeat what is already known and it is good for beginners. I did not mean it is my source of SEO, I just like their style.

Bill is a beast! He puts up new content on a regular basis. And it's not the drivel that's been talked to death on other sites.

He's been on a big kick lately where he's doing in depth articles on Google search patents. Not really that useful for me and what I do but still they're interesting to read.

That's not a "kick". That's what he does. That is what the site is devoted to.

            Wow Mike you're right!

I joined his mailing list about a month ago on advice from somebody from another seo forum and was impressed that Bills as active as he is with his posting. Seems he never misses with a couple a week or so.

Granted I was impressed with all the new stuff I'd never read and was wondering when I would get something from him that was topically centered around something other than search patents.

That patents is what he's devoted to explains all that and now I can stop wondering when the kick will end!

Looks like Bill has his own niche thing

We should just cut to the chase and do some case studies.

"How much bread did you make last month working in SEO?"

Seems in the world of SEO there's 2 answers to every question and tastes to suit all.

Hard to pick a favorite as I hardly know any. Most "SEO" who put themselves out into the public domain, are in most case not SEO or even from any type of SEO background. Most of them are IM'ers who saw a niche in the market to arbitrage - outsource SEO services.

A couple of weeks droving over this section of the forum, and anyone could piece together a pretty outstanding index of content. Making them "look" like professionals of pedigree. It's become really hard to tell which is which, as now even old school SEO are focusing on brand awareness.

One of the flashiest so called Gurus out there, was selling Xrumer blasts less then 3 years ago. I'm not saying he upped his standards since, He still speaks and sells garbage.

But is regarded by so many as a "Guru".

Is that your Beer? Sorry about that, I'll get you another,

I like my own SEO techniques and i do it on my blog and in 3 months my blog reached on alexa rank 350k today. So i am my favourite SEO expert, but still i like the guidance and learn from everyone.

Thanks to all for helping me and make me learn new things, with their comments and questions.
