What Is The Best Practice For On-Site SEO

Good onsite seo alone will not rank for any moderately competitive term.

Links are the most important ranking factor

Consistency, quality content, with a good mix of highly optimized kjeywords will rank for ANYTHING if you do it long enough.

Backlinks help speed everything up is all.

SEOPressor is your best bet to teach yourself on-site SEO but you should definitely at least have the plugin "Wordpress SEO by Yoast".

Proper on-site SEO quickly:

- Keyword in Title

- Keyword in both H2 and H3 headings at least once

- minimum 800 words

- I use 2 - 3 images in each post with keyword in alt text ( I also target 3 keywords with SEOPressor)

- keyword 1% - 3% density

- Use of LSI Keyword(s)

- External link in keyword

- Internal link in keyword (*note - all links should not be over keywords - Google isn't stupid)

- Keywords in bold, italics, and underlined

- Keywords in meta title and in meta description (an SEO plug-in will allow for these fields to be filled)

- Keyword in page url

Do that in every post you optimize without over-doing it. You should be mixing it up between optimized posts and posts where you write freely and provide value while the keyword posts should primarily be around buyer keywords.

Do it for 3 months at a post a day and you WILL rank first page for long tail keywords.

Yeah, this method will work for any page of your site, be it a category or post.

20-25% is too much. The ideal percentage is around 10%.

I do not understand why people focus so hard on the competition. They spend days and weeks looking for that one keyword with little competition.

Do you know why other keywords are harder to rank for? Because usually that is where the money is.

I get the whole looking for low hanging fruit thing. I just think IM'ers go way overboard worrying about this.

When I do SEO, I definitely start with keyword research. You mentioned long tailed keywords. I have had really good traffic from using search terms with 3 words at the max. In other words, I have found it best to focus on 1 keyword at a time, where as a long tailed keyword targets more keywords.

I would definitely optimize titles, but what matters even more is the actual content. I usually sprinkle my keyword throughout my content in 3 different variations. Also, I do recommend alt tags on pictures as well.

When backlinking I have a process that I follow. In this order, this is how I backlink:

Ping with Pingomatic
Ping with Pingler
Submit to Digg
Submit to Reddit
Post on Facebook
Post on Google

Doing this has helped me get really good traffic coming in within a few hours.

But I think that you should have no problem with your plan! These are just my suggestions and some things that work really well for me.

You forget to add content, content is the most important in my opinion.

You just know someone is rockin the SERPs when they mention density & counting words.

I have seen that if you have kept the onsite SEO perfect your site will rank for any keyword, when your competitors will start building link for the keyword you are ranking, your site will tank. I observed this on one of my site. It was ranking at 5th position for a keyword in Newyork, US. But after a couple of days competitors done link building on that keyword and my ranking moved to 15, then to 22 and after this it was 37. So, I think link building also play a major role with onsite SEO.

I personally believe that 2014 is the year of structured data and backlinks. Do a perfect onpage and have at least 350 - 500 words with precious backlinks from hihg PR authority site with high relevance and sit and watch...

There are many factor working behind successful website and top ranked sites. must be follow Google standard guideline and user friendly site which is easy to understand and navigate. once you get good site then organic seo and link building factor working.
