Submitting SiteMap to Google Webmaster tools Problem

I was trying to submit my sitemap to google webmaster tools.
it returns the following error :
Sitemap is HTML
Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.

  • Change your sitemap to an xml sitemap (the file should end with .xml).

    • If you are using wordpress then try plugin for xml site map and then submit that in google webmaster page.

      Below How do i try
      When i go to webmaster tool then i click Test/Add Sitmape
      Then I write www.dl4all24.com/sitemap.xml

      is it Currect way kindly inform me?

  • Google website allow only .xml sitemap format. So create you sitemap in .xml and then submit in Google Webmaster Tool then you will never face any issue.
  • In Webmaster Tool you can't add HTML Sitemap, In that you can add only XML Sitemap. So please change and upload. XML Sitemap is very important for a website.
  • Your sitemap need to be in xml format in order for Google to be able to read it.

  • One should submit only xml sitemap in web master tool. There are many tools available for generate xml sitemap.

  • You are trying to submit an HTML sitemap instead of an XML which a webmaster tool will accept. Also HTML sitemap is for users and not spiders. So if you don't have an XML sitemap you can generate it manually of with various sitemap generators present. Then name the file as sitemap.xml and save it. The open your webmaster account and upload your file there.
