Hi all. Just a quick question. When people say that backlinks have to be relevant to your website topic ie sport. Fashion etc. Say your website topic or keyword is niche and the highest pr that seems to be on your competitors website at the top of google is say a pr4 . How can you exceed that when there are no other related pr4 or higher sites to link too? Do I just start building links with higher pr on non related websites.

Any help would be great as im a bit stuck on this!

    (i) SEO/backlink discussions belong here: Search Engine Optimization

(ii) Websites don't "have page ranks": only pages have page ranks. Nobody's denying that relevant backlinks from higher-PR pages are worth more to you than relevant backlinks from lower-PR pages, but that's about the PR of the page on which your backlink appears. When people talk (carelessly and inaccurately, or in the case of backlink-sellers, "deceptively") about "the PR of a site", what they're really referring to is the PR of that site's own home page (which is all well and good, if that's also the page on which your backlink appears). But understand clearly that there's really no such thing as "a PR-4 site".

(iii) The strength of the "linkjuice" to you tends to be in inverse proportion to the number of backlinks on the page, anyway: a link even from a PR-4 page which has hundreds of backlinks on it isn't worth much, anyway.

We all decide that for ourselves; it's something I never do, and don't want to.

There are many other sites ranking for related keywords that you can get links from. They are relevant too. You don't have to try to gain links from only sites ranking for your keyword.

Taken your example fashion as the main topic of a website, related websites would be those with fashion, clothing, accessories, etc.

I prefer related topic sites. If the topic is not relevant it will surely affect the site later. If the pr is not too high also it doesn't matters, but if the site doesn't have rank then it matters.

There are lots of sites that is relevant to your topics. And Personally I also prefer only those sites which is relevant to my category or provide the same information what exactly my site provides.

You can make "relative backlinks" in several different ways.

    1. acquire them from blogs you create yourself on free platforms like wordpress.com, blog.com etc
Filling them up with relative content makes them relative to your moneysite, then a backlink from these website can be called relative

    2. acquire them from article directories - the disadvantage of this is those websites have a lot different categories so even if you create account on them and submit several "relative" articles the backlinks from such palces will not be so valuable as in the 1st case.

    3. make a comments on relative High Quality blogs

Of course the better is to have a backlin from high PR/DA root domain not subdomain as in case of wordpress.com or blog.com but it`s bit pricey cos you have two choices to get them

    1. build your own PBN on expired high PR domains
    2. buy backlinks from someone`s other PBN

you need to focus only on the related sites rather than the other sites if you wanna know about fashion then you will search according to it rather than going to non niche sites this is also same way.

You can start it .You can submit your URL on high pr and authoritative sites. SEO's still believes high PR sites provide traffic to the website and positive signal to the search engine. I dont think High PR sites can harm your website today or in near future. It is a safe way, you can start your journey. Best of luck!!

Related sites are helpful for getting a boost in search result. If the sites on which you submit your content is ranked higher then it was so good for your site.

Relevancy is more important compare to PR. PR may get down while SE update PR algorithm. It is better for you that get back links high PR sites as well as relevant also.

Yes, PR is not a very important factor in the quality of a link anymore, so you should worry more about links being niche specific than high pr. The more the merrier as well.
