Meta tags--still used?

I've read that meta tags have been deprecated and not used by Google, Bing, and other search engines. Is this true? I find it very hard to believe..

Yeah, meta tags are now obsolete as ranking signals however they are still important as your organic click through rate partly depends on it.

Even though they say such things, it's important in terms of quality. And any thing can change at any time. Since it's organic, you can do it.

Yes, it is true that meta tags have been deprecated and not used by any of search engines. But, still number of people use it. Through meta keywords are not the main factor search engine consider when ranking sites,they should not be left off the page. Some are still using because it is the brief of your page content.

Meta description is important, and keywords are important for organic factor. We should not violate the rules of search engine.

Yes, meta tags been deprecated and not used by many of search engines, however, it is good to have those on your site. These can improve your site quality and help you positively in Organic Search Results.

its just a summary of what your site is all about, so even if they don't have affects on ranking for your site but these are important.

  if you already have them in there, just leave them. I still put them in every site, as well as the meta description
