Can't see this anywhere else here, and many had touted that.
Google Authorship is now extinct. I always thought it was a tad silly.

  • Wonder where all those *******s are now that were singing that links were dying and Google Authorship and Author Authority was going to takeover the SERPs...

    • I always thought authorship was for the future as far as Google was concerned so its a little surprising to see them abandon it based on present results. If not authorship Google has no plans any time soon to abandon links as the major authority indicator.

The Social is taking over SEO crowd just received a blow. Google is not going all in with social signals without some system to limit it being gamed and relying on third parties like twitter and Facebook

  • For certain traditional link building remains an effective strategy, though slow.

Was also surprise when Google introduced HTTPS to count on its rankings.
In effect most websites will need to have an SSL, as it now focus more on security.

Maybe Google stopped the authorship images because you don't have 10,000 word articles, lol.

    Try harder.
  • I liked Google Authorship but from what I've been reading here, seems I am the only one who found it useful. Maybe it was just being able to click through to find more content by that particular author or locating them on Google+ that was so appealing. Not everyone is into Google+ anyway, so maybe it's a moot point to have that info in search results.

Good to hear, one thing less to worry about.
  • Let the dead bury their dead.
  • Now I won't have to use Gplus forcefully. Will take my time to establish contacts there instead.

  • Google Authorship is dead.
Some people loved it but others hated it!
However, you must feel sorry for all those authors who spent a lot of time trying to build up Google's trust in them.
The matter of the fact is that initially Authorship was a success, however after only 12 months of launching, the cracks were starting to appear. A massive 70% of authors admitted that they made no attempt in connecting their content with Authorship.
This was launched specificity for authors to build up the credibility and get targeted traffic, may authors were not interested and Google finally pulled the plug.

In my opinion I wouldn't be surprised if Google were to relaunch Authorship under a different name, tweaked, bigger and much better than before.
  • yeah its dead, but only in the search results, it make create relevancy after some time
