Help! KW dropped from #2 to #6!

Hi all,

I have an Amazon niche site that was doing pretty well.

For one of my KWs, 4400 LMS, I was ranking #2 for nearly 2 months straight. Prior to that, it was jumping around between the #5 and #3 slots for about a month. So it's been in the top 5 for basically 3 months in a row.

Then last Monday, it suddenly dropped to #6, and has remained there since. I have no idea why.

A little background -- this site was built mostly with PBN links, and I had added about 5 new links over the past month. So I went ahead and removed those last 5 links. The site was built around January. Also, I have 3 other KWs on 3 different pages with 5,000+ LMS each ranking in the top 8, and those did not move. They also have the same PBN links.

I've analyzed my on-page and there is definitely no KW stuffing; and my backlink profile is fine in re to anchor text as well. So I'm confident that is not the issue.

So I'm just looking for a little feedback. Could it be that Google has finally caught on to my links, and is slowly downranking me? Could it be that I haven't been building *enough* links, and that I'm dropping because of that? (I've been adding about 5 PBN links per month). Should I just wait longer and see what happens (it's only been 5 days)?

Thanks for any insight -- just a little confused since it was ranking so well for a couple months straight, and then the sudden drop, without any of my other pages falling.

Cheers.

Google would not do it slowly.

It's not a huge drop. Sometimes the difference between #2 and #10 can be pretty small, so just a small change can increase or decrease rankings significantly.

If you have been adding additional links to your network sites, you are also weakening the links pointing to this site. That could cause a small drop like this.

Also could just be that your competitors are taking action.

Ok, thanks for the reply. I had thought about the additional links that I was adding to my network (to my other niche sites), I may think about removing those.

It is a small drop -- but it's projecting to cut my earnings by nearly 60%.

    Cheers.

Welp. Just dropped another 3 spots since I posted this, down to #9.
