Is Advertising in Content Network and Search Bad?

I hear that advertising in the content network and search is bad if it's the same ad group because you could lose money? How exactly do you lose money?

My main focus is grabbing traffic from the content network so I have my max cpc at .05 a click. I have the search network turned on also. Is it really that bad? To me it seems like a benefit because I could potentially grab quality traffic for a few keywords in the search network. It is unlikely with a cpc of .10 but you never know.

Someone please explain if it's bad in my case to advertise the same adgroups in both the content network and search?

It's only bad in the sense that search and content are two different animals and should be managed differently. Hence, have a search-only campaign and a content-only campaign.
