The answer is NO, Ezine nofollow links won't rank a page.

I guess your talking about scraping EZA pages.

Ezine will outrank your self hosted page by default considering they have 100s/1,000s of established same niche pages already ranked for months/years. My bet is Google will bury your page in Supplemental SERPs before they bury an EZA page.

Not always true. I had some a-hole take my ezine article word for word and not only take my bio off , he changed the author name... Now if I search for my article by name it goes to the other site in 1st position and puts ezine in the 'click here to see more of the same' section.

The difference here is OP is asking how to do SEO, where the scraper competition your talking about obviously knows to use followed backlinks to rank a page unlike EZA nofollow links.

EZA is useless for trying to rank a self hosted page.

Ezinearticles I am using only for syndication of my articles, after some period of time you could see them on a lot of blogs with your links inside, but the purpose of those sites is not to rank your website but to give you some referal traffic. So if you publish on EZA avoid put your keywords you want to rank in the author box cos after period of time you will get thousands of links from hundreds of people blogs who feed their blogs with EZA content, it`s bit risky. This what I do I put the raw URL only, it`s good cos I then don`t have to build links myself for URL what is necessary these days to vary anchor text. That way the others will do it for you for free (:

EZA is perfect for referal traffic, but no value for SEO and potential risk if your articles were be often pulled to people blogs (if you have your anchors in them of course)

Yes, if your article is having a well researched keyword. By adding quality content on EzineArticle and doing little SEO of that article you can bring it on first place very easily.

But it depends on your efforts paid in keyword research.

Any type of content can rank on the 1st page of Google (pages on your blog,a subpage on EzineArticles.com,a video you created on a subpage of YouTube.com,etc). Back in the day ranking articles on EzineArticles.com used to be a piece of cake, not so currently.

With no second thought I would say a big NO, the reason is simple. No Follow links cannot get you anywhere in rankings. And getting a links from Ezine articles will not at all help you. People are taking out their links from EZA with the fear of getting back bad links.

If you are talking about the articles you have submitted to EZA, you can rank them using normal SEO tactics. If you are talking about taking EZA articles and put them on your website there may be duplicate content issue unless your website is an authority website

The quick answer is NO! The long answer is NO, because first the backlink would be nofollow and second, article marketing is not working anymore... But in some cases you can get a few good and targetted visitors, but.......

For uncompetitive terms, with SEO done to that ezine article page, it might be possible to rank it at the top of Google I would think.

Duplicating the content from the web is NOT a good idea in terms of SEO or SEM. Not to mention that in the eyes of the reader you come off as Lazy.

I can tell you from experience that if you fill your site with EZA articles,
it won't do well. Period. Bought a pre-made site ages ago, and I never could
understand why it would not get indexed or do well. It was stuffed with 100's
of EZA articles. I thought it was the $%#its. I dumped the whole thing, started
over, wrote my articles, etc. Now it rocks.

If others are talking about ranking an EZA on first page, man I gave that up as
soon as I got the coffee mug. Complete waste of time. Why on earth am I concentrating
on making someone else rich? Now I work on my own stuff.

And, we all saw how Squidoo ended up. So many people complaining now that the money train has left the station. If those same people had bothered to park the same content on their own site (which they owned), it would still be earning money.

Unfortunately, newcomers are still reading posts from 2010 on various forums that say EZA marketing is still valid (though it's not) and thinking this must be current information. It helps to stay up to date on current SEO techniques.

This is not a good idea to copy article from ezine and place on your own website. If you mention the source, still it is duplicate content and in terms of SEO it is waste of time and you won't get any mileage for your website.

All the links of EzineArticles are nofollow. So, it won't help you to get ranking. Duplicate content will be harmful for your site. Do you have any idea about Google Penguin and Panda?

    Don't bother doing it.
No need to try out experiments that really have no value. Stick with experiments that you can learn and benefit from.

I do miss EZA's dominance though. Good old days

I am shocked anytime I see a thread with ezinearticles and the word rank, or first page, or any combination.

Ezinearticles is good for nothing, not traffic, not rankings, nothing. It's a good waste of time. You'd be better off spam blasting the internet at random than building any links from there.
