Change language?

I have a small spanish-language blog, about 100 entries, EEUU IP, .com domain, PR4, and a good number of backlinks from another spanish language sites from around the world.

My question is: what would happen from SEO point of view if I change the site language to english?

1. If I translate actual content to english


2. If I write new content in English


I guess that spanish language backlinks would lose their value, even with 301 redirects. Big traffic drop ... or maybe not?

  • Certainly you will lose ranking, traffic. I would create a sub domain in English language or a section or even a new domain.
