Hey everybody,

I have one blog and last few days i notice change in back-links. I create back-links for the same but previously my site URL is like this "http://sitename.com" but after that I change and out www ahead in sitename. like"http://www.sitename.com/" so does it harm my site? Does penalty affect my site?

www an no-www prefix should link to same page, if not, both variants seen as different website. google see this as duplicate content. Penalty? No:-)

It is very important to be consistent with your URL structure, because even the slightest changes in your URL structure can confuse the search engines.
Not only this, but the url with or without the slash(/) at the end of the URL cause a difference. Google sees them as being two different addresses, and it could possibly split your pagerank value.

Just ensure that www(dot)sitename(dot)com redirects to sitename(dot)com.

Use 301 redirect to redirect the non www to the www version of your website, otherwise both URL's will be considered duplicated.

There is no problem, but I would redirect the WWW page to the website without the WWW prefix with a quick 301 redirection!

if you have two urls www.domain.com and domain.com then search engines will consider these two different domains. so it will be good to redirect your domain to a single URL.

Google counts 200 factors for ranking & this is one of them so don't worry about this but try to resolve this problem with 301 redirection in .htaccess file for Cpanel.
I hope you are satisfied with this.

URL structure is really important for search engines. Domain.com and www.Domain.com considered as two different sites on search engine. So it may confuse the search engines. I think you need to be consistent with your URL.

A domain really is not a url....

In 2014, whether you 301 or not, www-wise that is, it's a moot point.

Google is pretty smart at realizing they are not two different sites.

In fact, one could go crazy...
      domain.com
      www.domain.com
      www.domain.com/
      www.domain.com/index.php

etc....could all be seen as "different" pages. But in the real world of google,
they aren't. Just because google "thinks," in some off the wall way that they
are "multiple" pages, it's also smart enough to know what to do with SERPs.

www. is really a subdomain of the domain. Some odd-ball server settings will
not have that, and then and perhaps only then must one protect oneself for
      type in traffic.

People might be freaked out that you don't need to type the index.php
on a lot of big sites, like the warriorforum. But that is essentially the page
that loads: The index page. And that is not in 6 or more variations. It's the
      same page.

I could actually come up with an infinite ways of typing a domain into the address
bar, and get the same friggin' index page. That's nothing to panic about.

        Paul,
In some extent I have to agree with you too. But as we both know people still gives more priority to www. and one more things is my site which is add in GWT without www. is stop indexing at one update line and than I add again with www. and it start indexing. I am still surprise how it happens but I think my work is to check index page and analyze them don't go with the logic why this is happen.. so i leave it there.
