Keyword Stuffing ??

I see a lot of sites these days that add a lot of well searched keywords on their page in a section "Popular Search Engine Keywords For xxxxx". For an example please see the bottom of the page below

The above site is ranking well for a number of keywords. I think keyword stuffing means using the same keyword over and over again. This strategy worked a few years back and I believe google has methods to detect such sites and label them spammy.

Having said that, if you stuff LSI keywords (get them from "synonyms" section of adwords keyword tool), it is tough to detect because google wants us to use more LSI keywords.

I will appreciate your thoughts on this

Thanks

  • yes, I agree with you my friend. Latent Semantic Indexing is the best way to get rank your website on Google. And even Am also using on my websites.

    • LSI is dead. . . Google used Referential Integrity to rank results. Not to say that content is irrelevant but the in-site and off site links carry more "ranking power"
  • Interesting. I think I might have to put up a test and see for myself.
  • Inspiring thread! I didn't see anything like what I was thinking so I just wrote a Wordpress plugin and widget to stuff keywords...err...enhance latent semantic indexing as described above. It's running now on jakesellers.com and it displays the 10 most recent searches sitewide (I put the widget under the adsense in the right sidebar) and works with the 1st tier engines. If you search for 'jake sellers internet' and pretty much anything in google, ask or yahoo you should see your search when you click through to the site. For example 'jake sellers' internet - Google Search

It can be customized to display top all-time searches sitewide or by post, the word can be wrapped in a URL for site search or whatever although WP's too interlinked by default already so that's probably of little value, and I'm working in a few other things, and it should work fine with any dynamic sidebar theme, that is to say, pretty much all of them.

Does this already exist somewhere and I couldn't find it? If not any Warriors interested in such a plugin?

  • Keyword stuffing is considered to be an unethical search engine optimization (SEO) technique. Keyword stuffing occurs when a web page is loaded with keywords in the meta tags or in content. The repetition of words in meta tags may explain why many search engines no longer use these tags.

  • repetition of keywords...that's keyword stuffing...almost the whole percentage of your content are your keywords...
  • Jenie0109 is correct. Mixing LSI into content as well as backlinks is the best path. For example, I do a lot of Link Spinning where my text link changes. I will mix in 1-2 LSI phrases depending on the number of actual keyword phrases I am working with.
  • I agree that you can use synonyms for the keywords and G will not recognize it as keyword stuffing. But i dont think this will have much benefits for your website.
  • I believe it does help. I have one website in particular that has a decent number of links but in no way would should it be competing with the sites that show up in the serps with it. It should be well below them. BUT I started sprinkling in some LSI phrases last year along with my continued normal keyword phrase links and I rose in the ranks.

Its probably a fluke but who really knows?

    • Wow .. I just analyzed that website using this keyword density analyzer and found that this keyword "acnezine" has a keyword density of 4.81% Isn't that a LOT? Then "buy" "acne" etc have decent density.

  • NO.
Google's response on this: YouTube - Is over-optimization bad for a website?
  • What % is considered keyword stuffing? Say I mention a product brand name or keyword phrase 5 times in a 300 word article - too much??
  • LSI gives the possibility to search engines (especially Google), to associate keywords between them, like a human brain would do. For example we might associate milk with the color white, a ferrari with the color red. That's exactly what search egines are now doing and learning: the keyword Ferrari will be associated with sports car, speed, red, and expensive keywords, and this is key to take this in consideration when you create content, and also when you build your website.
  • Yes, I think it depends on how this is done. This is similar in concept to adding keyword tags to your Wordpress blog. I can add a tag on one of my blog posts and that tag page ends up ranking extremely highly for that tag keyword.

On a selection of my dynamic sites I also have the home link anchor text randonly change from one of three main keyword phrases. This catapulted my sites in the search engines within 2 weeks for ALL three keyword phrases. This is because the link density on ALL pages within the site was spread across three different phrases and not just one.

I have given instructions how to do this on my blog and have also shown screenshots of results.
