Hello to all the forum members. I would like to enhance my skills in SEO (I'm a starter) and i am reading all the valuable content on this forum.

As an exercise i am trying to position a website that i made for my leasure; this site is Il GattoDiario: Racconti sui gatti and the keyword is 'gatti'.

Now, i asked owners to place a backlink on two related websites that i maintain. One is this: Mondogatto ONLUS - Sito Istituzionale - Newsitems but because the backlink is on a left column, it created a lot of backlinks to my website.

I think this is bad, right? If yes,

1) Where should i position the backlink to ilgattodiario.it, in the home page?
2) How can i tell Google to remove all those links?

Thank you

    Improve your On-Page first.

Check how your competitors are building links with respect to quantity, anchor texts and variation. (web 2.0, articles, guest posting etc.)

These two related websites... Are they hosted on same hosting accounts? Try to get another hosting for that site.
Are these the only two links you have created for your website? Try to get more analyzing how your competitors backlinks strategy.

    1) Where should i position the backlink to ilgattodiario.it, in the home page?
    Anywhere between the page.
I can't open the second website. Don't repeat the links everywhere (on every page) on the other site. (If you are doing so). Just make it stick on homepage only.

    2) How can i tell Google to remove all those links?
Install Google webmaster tool. And chose the option to Disavow links. (Google it for more details)

If you want to remove the link then recontact them and ask to remove it. Do NOT use the disavow tool, especially if you are inexperienced with SEO.

More importantly check the rest of your links as well to confirm you haven't built bad links. Remember that SEO is different these days than what worked a year or two ago. If you are relying on information make sure it's recent information.

Thank you; I changed the websites so the backlinks appears only on homepage. (I manage the two websites for the owners and i asked them permission). The websites are on different servers. (The two websites with backlinks are Mondogatto ONLUS - Sito Istituzionale - Newsitems and Mondogatto - Persi e ritrovati - ALL).

I have already WMT configured, i will check now all the backlink to my website. BTW I'm realizing that those two websites needs to be worked on, they are not optimized at all for SEO (but they are NGO websites, so they don't sell anything, anyway they may like more traffic because of donations).

Thank you, I already did it. I have another question: another website (related to cats) is linking me 17K times because they put the backlink on a left column.

I can repeat the process but i wonder: in Market Samuray the number of the backinks is considered an asset, infact i see my competitors having like 100000 or millions of backlinks. I think they reach this number also with this kind of backlinking.

So my question is: should I try to remove all these type of linking or leave some of them (for example the ones coming from a website that is related to my content)?

    Thanks
