i have a question about expired domains and google index

I have seen a lot of persons that say to search on google to see if a site have problems or is deindexed.
(site:domain name) or just (domain name with extension)

and here is the problem, i have found few domains that have only few links, but they don't show in google at all.
is something wrong with the domain? or was expired for too long?

this domains are any good for pbn? they have good links profile but im afraid to get they because this index problem...
Pleas let me know what to do.
