    You need to find out how much each customer is worth to that company once they close. Then you need to measure your success by figuring out by how much you have increase their traffic.

    Then figure out how many are converting. So, if your results bring in an extra 500 visitors to site and 10% of those new visitors buy the product/service, then you can show your client that your results brought in X amount of money. So if your results brought in $1,500 but you only charged $500 then they have made a good ROI.

    In short, measure all of your efforts and show how you have increased their traffic. Have them define how much each customer is worth to them.
