Good SEO Tactics For a Popular Organic Traffic Blog

Hi Guys,

As a visionary, I was able to put up a website in a specific niche that is doing quite well. I made the website out of my own passion and organically it get a couple hundred visitors a day without any effort. I'm now ready to increase the traffic and start to monetize the blog.

On a level of 1-10 I'm at a 4 in terms of understanding SEO tactics, but I do know enough about the strategies in which why its important to apply good SEO tactics. I've been listening to podcasts, YouTube videos and much more.

I had a couple questions (very basic) to help me get started that I was hoping some of you professionals could help me with:

1) Is there a good eBook or article for me to pick up and start reading about understand the basics of SEO or Monetizing blogs?

2) What comes first, traffic or ads? I don't mind bringing in traffic; I can do so by adding more content as well as various social media channels. However, when is the appropriate time to introduce ads to your website? Should I sign up right away with Google ads until I get enough traffic to reach prestige ad networks?

3) How do know exactly what keywords to go after vs. what is already saturated in the market place?

4) What is generally the best way to monetize a blog that is doing well without feeling the need to take the quality away from the site itself?

5) Should I start working on creating eBooks of my own to give away for profit?

    It seems you are new in this field. First decide what you want from website. Quality traffic for your product or service or just want to earn revenue from ads click.
    To earn revenue from ads, you need to have a good amount of traffic, not necessarily related to your website.

    I think that your first concern would be to get more traffic. If you have created your website out of your own passion, then you probably write quality, helpful content. The best way to monetize that traffic is to grow your own e-mail list by offering free reports/e-books to your visitors and then send them offers/newsletters targeted to your niche. Another great way to monetize your traffic is Google Adsense, as you mentioned, but try to keep the number of ads per page to a minimum. Also, when choosing the keywords, go for the ones that you consider most meaningful and that would help your audience the most.

      Thanks guys, someone else had suggested reading Moz ebooks they offer online to help.

      When I started the site, it came truly from passion. It's been doing well, but I've spent so much time and resources that I was hoping to benefit from it in a way where I can keep it going.

      I appreciate feedback, and I'll start digging in deep and hitting the books.
