Where would you spend more time, creating content for a site, or promoting the content that was already their for SEO purposes?

Been adding some content to a site over the past few days. Seeing a jump in rankings for keywords related to the new content. I thought this would transfer through to my main page and main traffic driving keyword. (More subject related content=more authority right?) but it has yet to budge.

Going back to the first question am I spending my time wisely adding additional content to the site, will this pay off in the long run, or should I switch to promoting what is already there to gain links, social shares, etc.

Depends on where I am with a project. If a site that's my focus already has hundreds or thousands of pages of content then I spend more time promoting it. If it's a new project, I spent more time building it.

And TBH, when someone is new, I think the most important thing for them to spend time on is making mistakes and learning from them - no matter what they are doing.

I'm actually writing up some mind dumps on various topics now. They won't be "Guides" or "Systems" but more like a mind dump in conversational format about what I think about various topics - Wordpress site construction, content production, etc. They'll probably be pretty cheap.

If I ever see this project through to the end I'm sure it won't be a secret.

Fittingly they will be called something like "Wordpress SEO - An Evening With GOY" named after "An evening with Kevin Smith" (which is recommended viewing). The tone of those movies is the type of style and tone the documents are written in so far.

Meh, anyways. Let's just dial this back in before I become a total self-promoting whore.

Basically you want good content, a if you are satisfied you have it, then you should put you efforts in getting the article or Blog ranked as high as possible. That would be your biggest payoff.

Everyone says Content is the Key. Some people agree and some don't. To be honest, content is the only Key to a good SEO. A good content will always create good impact on your readers. If you write good content, your visitors will definitely think to link to your website. This way your content is promoted automatically by them and not you. You just have to more concentrate about 80% on your content and give 20% for your site promotion.

No, neither content is king nor backlink is queen.....

The main thing is consistency and uniqueness....

Try to create something unique and show it to the world...

Concentrate ob both content and back links, choosing one and leave the other will not help, also Pdomain advise is a valuable, consistency and uniqueness are keys to success.
