Hi,

I want to rank well my website in the organic search results for local businesses, like if I target our website only for specific state like Texas so which strategy will be helpful for us to better local results.

  • For local business, you need to be city specific. If you want to target Texas state then it won't be much diff. from typical SEO. Just target Texas specific keywords and also try to build links from Texas specific directories or websites.

    • I've been working on Local SEO articles for a client and been doing local SEO activities for several other clients, here's what i've gleaned:

      - NAP (Name Address Phone Number) consistency.
      Make sure the directory citations are upto date and accurate, the easiest way to do this is either by using a tool such as Whitespark or by googling all previous names, addresses and telephone numbers your business has had.

      - It sounds like your business is ONLINE, to get a google places listings for your target state (EG: texas) you will need a physical address which cannot be a Mail Box. The snaeky way of doing this if you don't have an address in that city is by hiring a 'virtual office' in that city, google will send you a verification card and you will have your listing. Then terminate the virtual office contract after the first month. There are no further verification procedures.

      - Due to the nature of Local Businesses being non-tech savvy (how many plumbers hire an SEO?), the Google Pigeon update reflected higher weighting for directory links.

      - depending on your business type, there are many other Local Search tips that may be applicable; check out Moz for a good breakdown.

      U need to do First Local Listing in Google for your website and then do some Good On page and off page work for your keywords so with in 3-4 Month at list 40% Keywords Rank in First page.
  • Ensure that you NAP information is consistent. Also, build local citations and try getting good reviews.
  • Can You post how many competitor you have in google for your keywords?
    Local is easy just do a couple of videos and make sure the website link is at the beginning of the description and the description is at least 500 words long. Submit to main video sites and do another one, submit in 2 days and so on. 1 week strategy top results for local-no brainer.
    When ranking drops(it will sooner or later) push a new video.
  • Use your local city name in your keywords and i think classifieds and local listings are good.
  • Get listed on Google, Yahoo and Bing and have reviews about your business to do well locally. Also, choose the region specific keywords and optimize your content and Meta according to it. Post on the country/region specific websites for better results.
