Blog post not ranking at all

One of the most important blog posts of my website is not ranking at all in Google.

I do rank very well for several other posts, but this one I could'nt find even in page 10. It doesn't seem that other site are simply better, because I don't rank AT ALL.

Could I have been penalyzed? And if I was penalyzed, the penalty wouldn't be for the whole site?

How can I check what's wrong and, most important, how can I get ranks for this specific post?

You could check in Google. Type your website URL and click Search. If there are any results, your website is not penalized... If your aritcle is still not indexed in Google, go with a ping or you could also use Social Media sites to speed up the process (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), but just do NOT spam!

Signup for Google Webmaster Tools to check penalization.

If you aren't ranking then it's probably because you don't have enough backlinks pointing to that webpage.

Make sure on-page SEO is solid and then start building more links.

However, there are times where you can't rank no matter how hard you try.

Try to curate your post via healthy social shares (real people who have at least several real connections/friends/followers adn use the proper htags or keywords). Twitter, Google+, Stumbleupon, Delicious, Quora, Tumblr, Yahoo Answers, Wordpress, should not miss from your next SEO campaign.

A single page of your site can get penalised without affecting the other pages, so it could be a penalty, but I do not think it is. It's just not ranking, not that it lost it's ranking.

First off, analyse the whole page and make sure it isn't over-optimised for it's target keyword. Check the number of keyword occurences vs content on page which is popularly known as keyword density. If the keyword density is above 1%, reduce it.

Lastly, you may have deprived that page of the link juice it needs to rank well. Maybe you aren't linking to it from other pages of your site. To solve this problem, include a link to that page from the most important pages of your site, particularly the ones that are doing well in Google.

I have experienced this myself recently, I don't know how many keywords you seek to rank, but I find if I alternate the order of keywords and the sentences they are in........it appeared.

Hace you checked the robots.txt file if you have excluded your page from being indexed? The link Juice thing makes a lot of sense but if your page is not on the first 10 page, i think either the keyword is too competitive or your page is most likely stopped by the robots. Its just an option. Not conclusive

You could also see if your website is even in SERPs. You can search Google for:

      site:yoursitenamehere.com

      or

      site:www.yoursitenamehere.com

Depending on how you have yours set up. You can use Google dorks to further look for the page specifically.

It happens sometimes with one or two sites. We do SEO for 10 sites at a time and 2 to 3 never pick up for the same keyword, we do the same work for all the sites. Try changing domain probably.
