I think I figured it out. For some reason all the sites in question were set to block all search engine traffic (Settings -> Privacy). I then followed Martin's advice and re-submitted the sitemap...

its not necessary, but you WILL lose some amount of commission. even people not too familiar with IM will sometimes see an affiliate url and choose to go to the root domain instead of just clicking....
